Has obviously got some quality about him, but it's so frustrating that he only ever seems to make any sort of difference from the bench. That run through the middle yesterday was absolutely class, but I'm yet to see him do anything remotely like that when he starts the game.
For me everytime I see Ryan Hedges play we look dangerous going forward, why the **** we had Moncur (who I thought played better than he has done) on the wing when we have a natural winger sat on the bench is behond me!
Because Hedges has been injured and may not have been able to do 90 mins without the risk of further injury?
Maybe Hecky thought Moncour would do a better job. He worked very hard and i thought did do a decent job, especially first half when we were pressing.
A better impact sub against tiring legs than a starter? I like Ryan and think he will become a good player for us in time an almost direct replacement for Marley but he needs bringing on at a pace where he isn’t exposed and criticised for any failings in his game that can be ironed out.
Strong and quick, which is ideal against tiring defenders when we’re forced to play on the break. Don’t think he’d have been as effective from the start, and I think it was the correct decision starting Moncur.
He started a night match - was it Cardiff? - and he was absolutely diabolical. He does only seem to look half decent when coming as a late sub.
For the obvious impact he was able to make. He is fit but 90 mins of competitive football is another matter. Often you see players pushed back in this way pick up injuries again. Its about building fitness.
Hedges only returned to training a couple of days ago. He probably only made the bench because Isgrove’s injured & Barnes has gone back. Can’t imagine he had more than a half in him
Why are folk whinging about Moncur playing wide? I’m one of his biggest critics but he did well yesterday
I like Hedges. He definitely should be seeing more minutes than he has done recently. I do feel that he needs to bulk up a bit though. He's all skin and bones, decent gust of wind and he's going to end up on the Metrodome roof.
I'd like to see Hedges given a run up front with Moore or Bradshaw. He's quick, instinctive, can shoot and is good in tight areas. I'm not sure he's a natural striker, but his attributes would lend themselves to a spell up top I reckon.
