Social care bill continues to rise for the elderly, perhaps it's time for a Logan's Run type cull to keep your council tax down?

To be id like to be given the opportunity to opt out of some council service and select my own service provider for services duch as refuse collections. You know one that actually does the job

How long ago was it they built themselves a huge modern office building with air-con?

Whether it's the government, the council or the NHS the priorities will be wrong and the money wasted.

Get rid of the diversity advisors and non-jobs for middle-class Guardian readers and they wouldn't have to put council tax up.

haha, anyone start throwing nuke around and so what? The American system we have for delivering our nukes, do you think its independent? Bonkers. Taking time off reaching a capital city has been shown to suck MORE money into the capital and does NOT benefit regions - go google about the high spree trains in Spain to Madrid. BONKERS indeed.

Much better projects to invest in that would actually improve the wider economy rather than suck more and more into London

Electrification of all local lines would deliver better and more widespread economic benefits for a start.

Increasing the capacity of existing lines, as BR wanted to do with the APT.

Improving East/West links. It’s crackers that from Doncaster I can get to London quicker than I can get to Manchester or Liverpool.

Another more closer to home - having the ability to go direct between South Yorkshire’s 4 major towns. At the min Barnsley is a change for anyone in Rotherham or Doncaster.

Absolutely agree with all of those, the local ones in particular should be addressed by an expansion of supertram via the dearne valley

Ergo a better way to spend those billions and distribute the benefits more evenly

Hs2 would surely distribute benefits across the whole of England and the greater uk when you consider the peripherals. They already have the college in doncaster for example

Do Barnsley Council give you the opportunity to spread your bill over 10 or 12 months?

You’re right of course, but it won’t sit well with our resident Tories on here, They who cannot/must not be blamed.
