Yep. You have to order those mega mega mats well in advance, believe me. And all the techno stuff - it can't be an impulse buy. It all needs careful advance planning. Any 10 year plan Marxist ought to appreciate this.
Pretty sure you said 'I'd always thought below conference'. Not really a question, more of a statement. Not specifically aimed at you, but we English football fans have a deep seated arrogance about the quality of the product we watch. Just 'cos Pompy get 10,000 for home matches doesn't make them any good, in the same way that Monaco aren't gash 'cos they only average 9,500. Apologies if I upset you, not my intention. My comment was a swipe at Joe Average English football fan, not you specifically.
Yeah well it's time they approved the spend on some players that we all believe might save us from the drop. Cos a reserve from a third from bottom second division French club does not have me drooling at the mouth. Does it you? I'd prefer 3 stand out quality signings - a keeper, attacking midfielder and a quick striker. Picked/approved by Hecky. Rather than half a dozen shades of mediocrity.
To be fair, Hecky's track record with signings isn't that great. I mean, apart from Yiadom and maybe Bradshaw, who has he actually signed that you could call quality?
I was wondering if he was for the development squad. I don't see him as being ready for a Championship campaign, but I haven't come across him before.
If last weeks comment from the club about increasing back room staff is right then I’d see about the feasibility of getting Danny Wilson into a player recruitment role. 2nd time around he was tactically inept but the bloke can certainly spot a player.
I'd call Sam Morsy quality. I'd call Matty James quality. I'd call Ethan Pinnock quality. I'd call Liam Lindsay quality.
Oh, I see. You're now putting caveats to your question. When you asked the question "Who had he actually signed that you could call quality", I assumed that's exactly what you meant. I took you at your word and gave four examples off the top of my head of four players who Hecky has signed that I would call quality, another one from last season would be Angus MacDonald. I'd also argue that when Hecky took over 2 years ago, he helped improve every member of our squad, got them playing more consistently and to a higher standard.
You seem to be conveniently ignoring Lita, Treacy, Frimpong, Shea, Woods, Lawrence, Turnbull, Proszwitch, and several more probably that I don’t recall off the top of my head.
Not a dig at all mate, but I thought it was known that Danny didn't really have a say in signings the last time? That Wilkinson(?) scout chap was the man weren't he? I may be wrong.
