These young players that we loan out, who was the last one we ever got back and made an impact in our first team? I can't honestly remember. People like Danny Rose, Noble-Lazarus etc had so much potential, but always seem to end up being released for peanuts, or even free.

Do Tranmere (National League) not count in the two clubs per season rule?

Fan impatience these days I'm afraid. People aren't willing to give a youngster half a season or so to grow into the team. The demand is for new signings, instant results.

    Good luck to the lad.

So that leaves Mahoney, Hammill, Hedges (just back) and Isgrove (injured). Hope this means we’re in for another winger. Couple of injuries and we are in big trouble on wings. Harry Wilson at Liverpool would be nice.

Not true. There's obvious cases here who have been given time and patience. There's also some youngsters who it's obvious don't have the required level to succeed like George Smith, RNL etc regardless of how much time you give them.

If you think so I must be talking more sense than I usually do then.

I suppose it's hard to know what to do with a young player. Keep playing them in the blind hope that they may develop with having better players around them, training facilities, better coaches etc. Or do you loan them out where they may get more game time, but sacrifice the quality surrounding them?

    Tricky.

I'm quite disappointed about that. I watched his interview after Villa and though disappointed about the result, you could see he'd loved the little cameo. I thought it might be worth using him here and there to the end of the season. Sometimes a bit of raw energy and pace can add something to the team.

The club obviously know what he's like, so hopefully this is what he benefits from most. I just fear the modern way is to loan out your own youth then loan in someone elses youth from a known team, and the ones that have gone out don't progress as they perhaps could.

Such a shame that hes one of OUR young lads. If he had been on loan from another club he would be starting for s every week

You've got to think Hecky knows more than anyone on here about the lads capabilities. Is there really any point keeping him in the 23s? He'd be behind Hamill, Hedges, Isgrove, Mahoney and probably even Moncur for a wide berth in the first team. Better to let him get some proper experience in the lower league. He looked good for Tranmere so now we'll find out how he goes after taking a step up.
