I thought we deserved a point today, and would have got that but for a great save from Moncur in around the 80th minute. QPR were poor, as we were at times, but Scowen made the difference, and I never saw him shoot like that when he was with us. Some people are feeling frustrated, as I am, but I won't join the clamour of Hecky out. It could easily have been a draw, it's such fine margins. However, I don't think I'd play both Gardner and Williams together. I'd prefer an attacking midfielder alongside one of those two.
No, sadly he is proving by his negative team selections when we desperately need some points, that he isn't tactically good enough and the worrying thing is, he's not seemingly learning from all his mistakes either which will surely lead to our relegation.
ive been sying for ages that if hecky wasn't one of our own he would have gone months ago he hasn't had a boss to pull him up seams like he has full control over every aspect of the team.and for an inexperienced manager that's not good .Yes the players should shoulder some of the blame but in my opinion we have two options either start a fresh and lets face it the new bosses wont have any sentimentality when it comes to saving an investment or bring in some experience and send paul to school somewhere so he can learn his trade. Has anyone ever been to watch training ...all we seam to do is play a game ,no set pieces ever ,no tactics nothing to inspire .Sorry Paul but I think you should be looking over your shoulder but aren't you the luckiest manager in football having signed a contract in this position
I wish I could be that confident as well Mario, but my niggling doubts about whether hes good enough have been creeping up and up all season long and in fact it goes back to last season as well. Ive no idea what the answer is though, so it looks like we're going to have to get used to the Lg One stuff again come August.
Hecky is good enough, he just needs to take a long hard look at certain things and maybe bring in a bit more help and support with the coaching set up. On the pitch play 2 proper wingers, drop Bradshaw, split up Williams and gardner, give the new lads a chance, think harder with substitutions etc etc. We want hecky to get through this but he has to change and not be stubborn as some of his tactics and loyalties are not working.
Lets be reight, if he'd spoken with a lancashire or southern accent, he would have been hounded out ages ago, regardless of the circumstances he has had to deal with. Personally I think he needs more help, with an older experienced head who isnt scared to give a bit of critique.(eg eric winstanley relationship with danny Wilson)
It's all about perspective AT. Hecky is rebuilding in a very tough league after having a good team dismantled. The players he has now are not yet at the level of the players he lost. It will take time, patience needed.
Yet most of us could see that it needed tweaking. It didn't take into account the quality of player we lost. They were all, to a man, significantly better than they were when we recruited them in the league below.
For me we pitched to largely a lower level than we did when Houriane and co were brought it. It smacked of, at best, total confidence in making it work and at worst totally myopic
A bit of both with a measure of completely underestimating the jump in quality between the championship and league one thrown in.
Driven by the spreadsheet dogma. Future profit or fit for purpose ? I'll leave to decide which on each individual
Many did (including Hecky) but the spreadsheet didn't. That's the flaw with statistical analysis when different external factors are not included. It worked well but it had to be tweaked to survive at this level.
