How good players get when they aren't in the team? Mcgheen and bird just by being loaned out have become much better players. In fact whoever is not in the first 11 are suddenly some of our best players and it's mystifying that they have been excluded.
Loan players who have only been here mere days and barely had a chance to train with new team mates are instantly world beaters and would immediately be able to slot in and single handedly get us a win at a ground we haven't won at it over half a century.
I can only suggest we drop everyone as quickly as possible because when they come back, watch out!

While this isn't relevant to your point much I think that our lack of success in 1980 has absolutely no bearing on our ability to win at QPR today

True but I was on a rant. I didn't go but I assume we didn't win at QPR today for the same reason we are 4th bottom and have lost to many teams this season.

I honestly think this stuff about not winning there in half a century and it being used as a reason why today's defeat was to be expected is total nonsense.

Why on earth would it matter to a bunch of 20 odd year old players, some of whom may never before have been to Loftus Road, that other Barnsley players they have never heard of and who are old enough to be their dads or grandads failed to win there in the past. To them, its just another game of football.

Suppose it could have a bearing if they let it get into their heads. Or it could just be a statistical anomaly. Wish I hadn't put it now as it wasn't the main poimy I was trying to make.

I take it that the main point you were making is something like , Stevie Mallan, when he awasnt in the team people were saying how good he is and should be in the side, then he gets in the team and plays really well and then gets dropped , so that proves he wasnt good enough anyway ! oh wait No that doesn`t work does it ? never mind I am certain that Hecky will sort it out.

People see different things. Mallan looks like a good player on the ball. Without it he some times looks a little lost defensively. Not picking up runners ect. I assume that's why he wasn't in the team at the start of the season he was probably worse at it.

Having too many defensive players in the team isnt working, we keep bloody losing .
It is going forward that we need to get better, I am a silly old man I know, but i just cannot understand the need for 2 defensive midfielders in a team ? we have a keeper, a back 4 and 1 defensive midfielder, that is over half the team whose main job is to prevent the opponents scoring, if we need 2 in the middle of the park then that cuts our ability to create goals even more.
Mallan looks like he is capable of creating chances, that is what we have been missing ALL SEASON , give him a bloody run in the team, get the 6 defenders topull their fecking socks up and do their job , then just fecking maybe the team will score some goals.
I am not having a go at you mate, just a rant in general. sorry if it looks that way.

It doesn't I tend to agree. I just try and understand the reasoning I keep in mind Hecky spends everyday with these players on the training field.
I said elsewhere we are at the point where I think he will just have to put most of the new lads in and just give it a go. It might not work but we know what we already have doesn't work. Hecky himself said we are at a crucial period now. We have games coming up that we can win and really need to.
I too would be disappointed if we contiunied the way we are. But while it is easy to say we should just have a go if we did that and lost 5 0 I'm sure the reaction wouldn't be oh well at least we tried.

Funny how those loaned out players are struggling to get into lower league sides as well. Most have lauded Jared Bird in particular as being the next big thing, and he COULD be one day. At the moment though he is not good enough to get into Yeovil's team regularly.

You get the same amount of points if you lose by 1 goal or 5 goals, but the way we are going, we will never know if we can get more by attacking, because we are not even trying it! Just more of th same all the time Gardner has looked a far better player at the side of Mallan than h does with Williams, but as soon as Williams was available back he came into the team.Just keeping on doing the same thing and hoping to get a different result is pure insanity !

Or doing what we are doing got us the points we have and if we had been more adventurous we would have less?

Which will not be enough if we just replicate it to the end of the season as other teams are getting better and adapting ! Or we can just repeart the same **** ove and over , hoping that we are not really insane at all and it is the rest of the world that is crazy !
I know which one is most likely to succeed !!

Current points per game for everyone we would stay up. It's subjective to say others are improving as it can often depend on the order the fixtures drop. We still have to play most of the bottom sides again this will likely decide our fate. coupled with how the new players perform. We can all see we need to score more goals in sure bringing in 2 strikers and 2 attacking midfielders was with this in mind. Only time will tell us if they are good enough.

Which is what I have been saying all this thread! I am sure it is yourself that said otherwise .
Also I said and just have a look at the table for proof of this, that other sides are adapting and improving, ie Birmingham, Bolton etc. We are pinning our hopes on , not getting better ourselves, but that others will be just as **** as us and therefore stay below us. yesterdays inclusion of Williams was one of the daftest decisions made by hecky and he has made some dadft ones this season.
