Unless we go back to 4-5-1 I don’t see how he gets in the side. Genuinely can’t see how he would come into Heckys thinking. On the surface he seems to be an out and out number 10 (Our spreadsheet seems to throw a lot of them up.) If Mallan doesn’t get in after 7 months of coaching and some decent performances then how does Knasmullner? Both Hecky and Clapham have implied in interviews that the league he’s come from is way off the pace. In a 4-4-2 he’s got no chance of a start imo. If he does it would be a right kick in the teeth for Stevie who can’t get a run of games no matter what he does. There’s some big decisions to make for Saturday and for Hecky sake I hope he makes the right ones. I think the initial plan in August was to go with Mcburnie on his own in the 4-5-1. Now we’ve got our man I’ve got a feeling before long we’ll revert back to this formation and utilise one of our many number 10’s. It’s certainly going to be interesting to see how/if he fits him in whilst keeping others happy.
The irony of all these defeats, and the sorry state that we are in at the moment, is that we have the players who should improve us. Well, in theory we have anyway - they just have to put into practice that theory. It must be so hard deciding what your best eleven is when there are players competing for every position but that, presumably, is what we pay a manager for isn't it? Either Hecky starts getting it right or we are going to dip into that bottom three and, if we do, we might have trouble climbing back to safety. I hate the fact that we are spending all this season near the bottom but I suppose it was inevitable given the upheaval of the last twelve months. If they can somehow cling on to what we have got I can see better days ahead. Trouble is that you need a telescope to see them at the moment.
A mate of mine went to watch his old team vs RB Salzburg and came out after 25 mins - the standard was that bad.
I thought our plan was at each playing level of the club we would play 442 and as players step up they all know their role so could slot in to the first team with out to much disruption. It was a simple disciplined way of playing that due to our finances was our way forward. Then we sign and continue to sign attacking midfielders who are not suited to 442, mowatt moncur mallan mcgheehan, potts now knarsmullner. So I either dreamt the 442 thing or we are going to have to start playing like man City or we have had a recruitment meltdown and the spreadsheet columns need adjusting.
Just to add to my last post we could drop all strikers, wingers and central midfielders and play a 460 formation which can't be negative as we would be playing 6 attacking midfielders. That's enough ****** from me for now.
lol,,,, after 25 mins ???most teams are working each other out in the first 20,and how can he bracket it as standard, maybe it got better after and he wasted his money,, but if i was to agree with you ,MAYBE as you state the TEAM was poor,, but on a individual performance did he tell you how knasmullner did?or again just a presumption,,, lol
I’m expecting him to be given ten games on’t wing between now and August 31st, and if by then we’re not one, him to be loaned out to a League one club.
Does anyone know if knasmullner is in the country yet and starting training with the team from Monday. He has to learn his role in the team, I don't think we can allow a naturally gifted player a chance to just play and show us what he can do. That's not really a dig at hecky well maybe a little one but for him to play I think it will only be in a 4411 behind mcburnie. It would be a big decision to play him in a midfield 2 in a local derby when we are on a bad run and him being completely new to this league and level. I'd stick him in but I'd be sacked after a few matches.
You are a very difficult poster to comprehend , cannot make any sense out of your post , please explain what you mean
Think he flys back tomorrow. Can’t see him starting on Saturday unless he’s looking too good to leave out in training. Hopefully he looks sharp enough to make the bench.
There has been far too much chopping and changing, IMHO. Some of which I don’t feel has been forced upon the manager. Neither Mallen nor Pierson deserved to be dropped this week.
I think the spreadsheet is only as good as the person interpreting it. The main consideration seems to be how much profit we can make on a player, rather than if we actually need someone in that position. If someone isn't compiling a short list of players from it and asking Hecky which ones would improve the team, then that's what they should start to do.
Well , you could try & explain why he will play on the wing until August , when the season ends in may , that in itself confuses me plus he is a midfielder not a winger , & why would we loan him out to a division one club ,hence the confusion , I ask again , will you please explain , thankyou
Potts, Moncur, Mowatt, McGeehan, are all central midfielders, and all four have been played out wide at times, to try and accommodate them in the team, the later two after struggling to play a unfamiliar role were sent out on loan, I don’t think it’s unrealistic to think the same may happen again with this lad. Theirs a pattern forming or am I the only one that can see it ?
We are never going to win another game if Hecky keeps picking 2 defensive midfielders in a 442 formation for me he should keep Gardner in the team and leave Williams on the bench and throw Knasmuller into the mix and go for the win.
You mention them four & I concede they have ended up out wide , but usually they have been switched tactically during a game & none of them have been selected to play out on the wing on a regular basis
