As us "fickle" supporters eh? If Hecky goes he will be below Johnno in my estimation.* *in terms of his character- not what they both did for the club.
Sky sports have him as favourite as usual with every job in championship Grayson, strachan, mcClaren , de Silva I personally do not think it will happen
Well there is a big difference to me , if you apply for a job you are wanting to leave , if you are head hunted its a different call
I’m betting Hecky’s new deal wasn’t what he had been hoping for, perhaps that’s why it took so long to tie it up? Maybe he thought after doing so well up to having the team ripped apart he would be offered a good deal. In the press release the other day the club seemed really keen to express it was a deal ‘on improved terms’ why state that? Why not just state he had signed a new deal? Getting their side of the argument in first perhaps knowing full well he wasnt happy with it? Maybe that’s why the release clause was put in - funny how only a couple of days after the negotiations had come to a conclusion this happens. Deal still not what was wanted after months of stalemate, reluctantly signs up but with a release clause, agent has a word with Leeds and bobs your uncle. Probably all rubbish like but maybe. I reckon we had a shout of stopping up with Hecky still here but I’m less optimistic now for sure.
No, certainly not but we are all human & if someone rang your employer up Conan & said can I speak to one of your employees about working for us, we will double his wages & pay you compensation , would you say , sorry boss I am happy here I do not want to speak to them or yes please , I think there is a good chance it might be the latter
I think your right with the new contract not being right for Hecky also the new owners are billionaires and as smiley as they are will be ruthless business men and if we don't win this Saturday then the sack wouldn't be too far away for Hecky possible jump before pushed. The money offered at Leeds and the payoff that would follow would set him up for life. Saying all that it's Leeds and as a barnsley man and fan how could you throw all your pride and dignity away to manage them foul ********. Money or not anywhere but them or Wednesday or blades I would lose my faith in anything football decency wise totally if he moves there. If he is there now interviewing that's too far and he has to go, he couldn't come back. Hugely disappointing and a let down but after saying all that he wouldn't do it he couldn't.
Look , I agree being a fan and showing loyalty is brilliant & the majority of us are hoping nothing comes of it but if results for us continue like they are, do you expect or think the new owners will show the same loyalty , you have only to read this board the last couple of weeks to see how fickle fans are , some have been turning on Hecky before todays development & Hecky is no fool he will sense if its time to move on or not but I repeat hopefully nothing comes of it
Maybe he feels like he’s banging his head against a brick wall? The most worrying thing about this for me is that, he is a fan, so I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt and say that I reckon if he could see some light at the end of the tunnel he would be staying, as surely he would rather have a push at promotion with us. He must just not be getting those kind of vibes. He’s waited for the takeover, waited to hear the intentions of the new set up, waited for the new deal and it must not be what he thinks it should be.
Leaving a team 4th bottom after being given an improved contract the week before on one of the worse runs in the clubs history? Reminds me of LJ, club stuck by him, then gets binned off when the hem gets shown from another skirt. "there's no loyalty in football", we shall see shan't we?
This is perhaps why, understandable though it is, we have been guilty as fans of putting Hecky on a pedestal as a god when really we should just judge the bloke impartially on the job he's doing and stop blowing smoke up his arse. Because no matter what they say, to people in the business it is just a job. Hecky has been given an awful lot of slack because he's one of our own and after a raft of managerial swaps in recent history its been a good thing, to a point, that we have been patient. We can see the issues he has had to deal with and so understand why we haven't been successful. But it also means that we don't know for sure if he's actually any good when circumstances are favourable for a head coach to succeed. And there is / was a danger that his status as one of our own would fog our judgement for too long to the point where it becomes detrimental to our success. With that in mind I voted at the weekend that I want him to stay. I'd give him until mid point next season. But if he doesn't improve then I would change my mind sometime around christmas I reckon. And therefore if he goes, so be it. We move on. And if he stays, fair play but he still must improve. Loyalty is only going to go so far. For both parties.
