Couldn't care less he has left. Just annoying he took the backroom staff and left the club in a state. Did well when it wasn't his team, when it was his team then he moaned about the signings. LJ started the run of good form off in League 1, PH just picked up where he left off and the form carried through. Championship. Kept most of key players and did well until January when we lost players and had a rebuild job, he was then lost. Not as if all managers in past got a pool of great players to pick from in the same division or league above so why should he get special treatment for some of the 'poor' choices he gets for transfer targets... every other bfc managers put up with it. (i personally feel jan window was decent). The record is awful this season and I feel we should be doing better with the squad we have. Too Rigid and Defensive is how it feels. No flexibility in attack, everyone seems to be in same positions every game. You can close your eyes and point to where bradshaw or the wingers are stood every moment of the game. If we can point them out with eyes shut then imagine defenders who mark them, theyll be laughing throughout the game. I was blinded to Heckys tactical mistakes and choices until he took Thiam off vs Reading despite doing 10x more than Bradshaw. Boos rang and I felt like Hecky wasnt the man for the job since but I never posted 'Hecky out' because I remained hopeful that we can still pull through this season.. That game vs Reading, Bradshaw did nothing. Yet he played 90mins. Id rather have a puffing and panting Thiam finishing that game with quality he showed than a fresh Bradshaw. Then he plays Moncur on wing. Ok, he hasnt done bad there but surely you'd give Hedges a run from start vs QPR especially after a few moments he had game before or even new lad Conor. How Potts was played for so many games on wing this year is beyond me. He lost plot a long time ago and it took me til december to realise. The League one run and the championship season was not his team and he just continued using the same team and setup that was left for him. When he lost that then he wasnt sure what to do and the previous years had masked how inexperienced he really is and not really ready for a real challenge which was to build a squad and get a group to play football. He doesn't really have a style of play which shows with all formations tried and players used. 442 some weeks cos it worked then 4-5-1 cos it didnt work like it did with hourihane and co. That dont work so maybe try 442 for old times sake again.. he seemed to be lost as he doesnt have his own tactics and style that he will stand by.. Now at Leeds he has a squad who haven't done that bad and already have decent players there who showed they can perform at this level. Long post I know.. Just had to come out.
I agree with most of what you've written, because Hecky's tarn lad it made it almost impossible to stay upset with him. From Jan 16 to Jan 17 it was Roy of the Rovers stuff and you feed off it, and hope it continues. The last 12 months for various reason's outside everyone's control as been underwhelming. The new owners will need time to sell the club, gain revenue from other sources. The main bit is surviving this season, and if that means holding our noses and employing someone with a basic approach which at times is ugly to watch so be it. I doubt we'll ever employ a manager 80% of fans will be happy with. Grayson seems the obvious choice today when we are all panicking about surviving, but there's an underrated manager out there who can be our long term gaffer and will both keep us up and kick us on. Wilson did it, Hecky did it and Flitcroft kept us up. Kevin Nolan's doing a good job at Notts County, played at top level, a grafter and now got em playing the right way in league 2 and getting results. What could he do with players with supposedly better technique and abilities?
Im intrigued how it goes. Sometimes new managers just get teams fired up by turning up, maybe because they want to perform to secure their place in team knowing he may not have favourites yet. I kind of hope he does bad, moving to Leeds is betrayal, especially saying how he hated Leeds and that not long ago.. Plus you never want to see leeds do well. He also stated one of the clubs biggest players is a diver and cheat I believe.. if so then Id love to see how the players take to him.
