I know what he said in the past Dave, but times have changed. If the new regime were to convince him to come then who knows. They say they will not throw crazy money at it, but IMHO they do not have to. The present squad is not that bad it just needs a bit of experience and leadership . They also say they like the idea of a local lad... how much more can they get than Macca, an ex miner too which was the heart of the area in the past. I do not think it will come to pass that he will come, but can you imagine the support he would get from the fans and I reckon it would put bums on seats too. People talk of Marquee signings of players , I think he would be a Marquee appointment as a manager..... but its never gonna happen so ..hey ho.
Simply because there are two generations of fans who never saw him play & if things went wrong they would turn on him quicker than Keith Hill & Macca might not want to risk his reputation & dignity for the sake of a pay day he does not need . The mans a legend in my eyes & I would love him here but anyone with an ounce of sense can understand why he might not want the gig
I don't get the 'risk it going wrong argument' (appreciate that's a quote rather than necessarily your view). Does anyone on the board devalue Danny's Premier League achievement less as a result of his largely forgettable second spell? I certainly don't and I'd still buy the bloke a pint and thank him for the memories if I met him in a bar. I think it was a throwaway line and if Mick came back and failed here he'd still be a Barnsley legend in my view.
money talks bulls#+t walks ,ask the judas with the white scarf . im sure if the board want him they can get him
