... which a week or so on is quite a turnaround from being "Really really disappointed..." Let's hope he continues to be " Really really pleased" and not have cause to revert to the latter
Unpopular opinion, but GG seems to work really, REALLY, bloody hard, and I for one think he is a real asset to the club.
Is it an "unpopular opinion" though(apart from one or two on here)? Much of the work goes on behind closed doors so you can only judge things when they are finally made public. The transfer window didn't seem too shabby and neither does this appointment (time will tell on both) but the effort has clearly been made and intent shown ! Young dynamic Exec IMO. I sense a shift up the gears as far as BFC future ambitions are concerned.
Got to agree with you - it's too early to tell on GG just yet. All the big stuff that he's been involved with though, I am happy with.
Well done to all concerned and the new owners will hopefully drag the club into the 21st century . Obviously there’ll be those that say “ we’ll we’re only Barnsley” which does my head in , but to grow the club and be part of the journey will be interesting at least . Can’t wait for the wrecking ball to turn up behind the west stand , now that would be quite something UTR #tinhaton
Our new coach speaks seven languages which will be invaluable given we're now looking further afield for future signings. Being able to speak to the coach must be a big attraction for some of the players from abroad.
GG clearly goes about his business in a professional manner and that’s exactly how it should be. It’s fine being a mouthpiece like Mansford was but a CEO is ultimately judged by what he gets done, not by what he says he’s going to do. Since GG’s arrival in the summer the club has drastically improved off the field, in my opinion. He has ushered in the new era, hired an assistant secretary to take some of the burden from Sharon, delivered an incredibly successful January transfer window and has been incredibly efficient in replacing Heckingbottom. As I’ve said before, only a select few on this board are privy to the inner workings of the club and what GG’s day to day role entails but even disregarding the unknown accomplishments and based solely on the above I’d say that he has had a very impressive and successful 6-8 months in the job.
I think the criticism of GG is based upon a perceived lack of fan engagement, however the circumstances GG finds himself in are wildly different to those of his predecessors. An ailing owner and ongoing confidential takeover discussions hardly made it easy to maintain the previous level of transparency. I think that if we judge him by the tasks within his remit he has done bloody well.
He/they have not messed about getting someone in, have they? Am I right in saying it's taken us a fair bit longer in the recent past? No overnight u-turns etc. Pretty impressed with the selection of head coach and assistant. Credentials look amazing.
Agree. Hes definitely had a baptism of fire, with two transfer windows a change of manager and a change of owner - hard to believe he's only been here 8 months. I think its hardly surprising he wasnt in the media much at first, he must have felt like a rabbit in headlights as he lurched from one crisis to another. But I think hes starting to open up now, and he seems much more comfortable and confident when he speaks now. Growing into the role I think.
