ring any bells folks. The younger ones will perhaps not get it.... but for us Owd gits, it certainly has some thought ( remember administration, and dodgy owners)..... now and again a day in the sun... its what its all about. AND its why I will never ever support any team other than Barnsley... and its also the reason why I despise the SKY football supporters who choose a team depending on success and will never ever place a foot in their grounds ,home or away. BTW Gordon is the very very young JLWBL....
Absolute classic - havent seen that for a few years and havent time to watch it all now - what with being at work and all that but even the first few minutes are great - maybe watch the whole lot this evening if the game gets called off
I think the entire series is on youtube. My dad used to let me stay up half an hour late to watch it, as it was on at 9pm on bbc 2. What an old git I am.
Nice to see this again, remember it well from my younger days. I'd been watching the Reds for a few years before it hit the screen and it really struck a chord. Still does. The opening scenes, the utter dejection felt by Gordon when he arrives home from the match, well I'm sure we can all relate to that - not least because of the red and white scarf and flat cap. "Eight one... eight bloody one!" Classic. #oldgitsunited
I know someone who met Michael Palin and asked him if the club Barnstoneworth was supposed to be Barnsley. Disappointingly it wasn't.
