    I’m hugely disappointed.

I can’t do midweek evening games as discussed in other threads. My season ticket is worthwhile based on the number of Saturday games available.

This is another I now won’t be able to attend, and another disappointment for my ten year old who won’t be able to either.

I don’t know how bad conditions still are around the ground, but I know it’s thawing out around both donny and Leeds, Barnsley I assume is similar. All the roads are clear except the quietest side roads.

If more is forecast I understand it, but if they can get boro v Leeds on tonight, for sky, they could have got ours on. For folk travelling from Norfolk it would be hard and I know the majority seem to be happy about it but when I bought my season ticket this was a Saturday game.

They’re saying the pitch is playable - but the pics look like it’s frozen and the bbc reports off due to frozen pitch. Have they left the heating off?

There’s no mention of it either way.

They stop playing in November and start again in March in Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Czech Republic, and lots of the Eastern European countries. Sweden, Norway, Finland and Iceland all have summer leagues - although there is a January tournament in Reykjavik....

I’ll just say that Boro vs Leeds is on tonight. How is that possible if ours is off?

Can't really argue with any of that JamDrop, it's just that we get a few inches of snow and the country grinds to a halt. I remember going to Oakwell back in the 70s when the fans turned up to clear the pitch and the terraces and the game was played. Nowadays, it seems like the schools, trains, buses and the rest give up the ghost at the drop of a hat (or maybe the waft of a court case).

To put it into context, I'm working behind the bar tonight at a pub in Burton some 5 miles away, I'm planning to go on my push bike. Somebody has to provide this vital service....

I 100% agree with the decision from a fan comfort point of view. The wind chill is terrible and is likely to be the same tomorrow. However there's a big difference between the photo Barnsley FC posted at 13.00 of the Queen's Ground exit and a video of the same area a fan posted at 14.46. The steps and walkways in the ground could have easily been cleared if there had been a will to do so as well. I think a postponement suited the club on this occasion.

I think this post totally misses the point. I couldn’t make the game because my Girlfriend ‘insists’ we go away with friends this weekend. And she only gave me a years notice!
Absolutely the right decision by the club. I should make the re-arranged fixture.

People are obviously disappointed the game is off , I do not have the stats but I bet you can count on one hand the number of games put off for weather at Oakwell in the last 10 years , its a game of football , its not the end of the world is it & it does not happen every other week, so lets move on

I think the club as done everything possible to play the game. The pitch, car parks and surrounding streets all clear from snow and ice.The club can't be responsible for other areas of the borough.Looking at the video the game could have been played .

I couldn't agree more. There is no point in having the heated pitch if anytime there is snow outside the ground the match is postponed. They are terrified someone slips up in the car park and sues. On that matter - would it be too difficult to clear and grit the car parks? As for slippy pavements - well if you are told about them, and decide you want to go ahead that should be ok.

I'm glad it's off, the pub will be a lot warmer than Oakwell

Seems barmy to me, if the pitch and car parks are fine. I take JD’s points but I suspect
a lot of the same people ( including Norwich fans) that may have been unable to attend tomorrow are equally unlikely to attend on a cold night.
When you look back to the seventies (I know ,I know) as long as there wasn’t too much snow on the pitch we just used to get on with it, nobody thought twice about sliding down to the ground, it’s like they think the world just stops everywhere else because the games off!
