It’s not just the new signings though. Look at the options we’ve now got in the team. Barely saw Cavare & Gardner before December, Hedges & Yiadom missed a couple of months each, Jackson been crocked months, Fryers missed a couple, Isgrove barely played. Virtually all the squads fit. Pinnock, McCarthy, Mills, Fryers, Knasmullner, Hammill all not in the squad on Tuesday night. He’s working with a much better team.
Johnno was absolutely chuffing dire. He'd been here a month and went on a nine match winless run, then a nine match losing run, and got us knocked out of the cup by a team who finished bottom of the Conference. The football he served up was the most turgid I have ever had the misfortune to witness. He was also a bullshitter of gargantuan proportions. It was a happy day when Bristol City took him off our hands.
I’d agree with all of that but he has done a good job at Bristol & we got some money for him so it worked out perfectly for him & us. Agree about the turgid football. Some of them home games when we’d play possession football & get absolutely nowhere & then get picked off on the counter were shocking. Jordan Clark bagging that winner here was one of them games
Since losing some of our best players, Heckingbottom got three transfer windows to rebuild a team despite over a year of dreadful football that wasn't great to watch. If Leeds gave him the same loyalty there is still no guarantee he'd build them a good team, because he didn't for us.
You can have a thousand transfer windows - if you're shopping in League Two and Scotland you're always going to struggle. Particularly if the MO is to sell a player as soon as he shows a bit of promise.
It did work out in the end but let's not forget he also managed to go on a nine match losing run with Bristol City. Two nine match losing runs in a year with two different clubs - that takes some doing. I remember that first home game of the season against Burton. I wanted to go hone at 3:09!
Our form dipped when we lost Jackson to injury but alot on here still wrote him off. McDonald didn't have a iron diffency he was not injured he got subbed at half time v reading and then never seen again. Hecky could have sorted the goalkeeper situation out last summer. Can't recall Gardner having a long spell out again some on here gave him pelters early on though. Harvey barnes Lindsay yiadom Jackson would get in any team in the bottom half of this league. We will see how well he does at Leeds can't say he doesn't have the players jansonn 2.5 million roofe 3million siaz 3million 3 players there worth more than our entire squad. Jury is still out for hecky for me young inexperienced manager time will tell.
Gardner made his first appearance for us in September & didn’t play again until December due to injury if I remember right. I agree on the defence, the only positions in the team we’ve had good players just a shame injuries have kept meaning we’ve never kept a consistent back four.
He,s certainly been backed, still not sure on him im not keen on cockneys so that might be it, his signings so far for us have been average and nothings ever his fault but i think our owner will keep backing him and will get to the prem sooner or later, not sure it will be down to ljs ability or pure money, got a hunch it might be the later.
Cockneys? He's from Newmarket isn't he? Lol Your fans heads must be all over the place with him? Long winless runs followed by winning runs. Very divisive bloke
I’ve Read with interest all points of view, so here’s mine. Don’t be mislead by the poison Dwarf!!!, the football I witnessed under Johnson was some of the worst football I’d seen at Oakwell in years, with arguably one of the best squads we’ve had in years. Now please don’t start giving me he signed all those good players, he didn’t the spread sheet did!!!!, and that’s the same for the last five managers, we’ve been linked with the same players time and time again. Now credit were credits Due, Hecky then released that squads potential, the same squad that Johnson couldn’t get competitive. I’m not saying Heckys fantastic by the way, I’m just saying the facts are irrefutable, from the bottom to the top, and all we did was change the Manager FACT. Two Wembley wins FACT, what can’t speak can’t lie. I honestly think most people seeing the high turn over of players through the summer months, and the bollock of not getting McBurnie onboard realised this season was going to be difficult( at best), and with the added long term injuries, it’s been virtually impossible to field our strongest 11. We’ve still a chance Peeps, Mcburnies added some much needed threat, and Jackson adds a little calmness at the back, so fingers crossed and with a bit of luck, we can stay up this year, go into next year with at least 5 players on the books!!!!!. P.S I don’t care what Johnson or Hecky achieve at other clubs, it’s not Barnsley!!!!, I wish em well and good luck, but I honestly don’t give a toss!!!! COYR
Same thing nearly, for me he trys to be to clever we get on a run then he chops the team around. He,s under no pressure down here owner loves him and he knows it.
No mate, no point turning on him the stick he got last season was nasty, death threats kids get abuse at school, he had to move house all that and it didnt see to bother him, blokes got the skin of a rhino, he's the owners mate he,d have to get us relageted for us to even think about sacking him, the fans realise he,s here to stay.
