So far I have read that , Thiam, Williams, Potts have all been our best player last night, while Knasmullner looked great coming on as sub. McB( as it seems he is now called) scored again, Moore is a nightmare to play against, we were fantastic in the second half . How the heck are we losing games if we are so good ?
We concede appalling and easily/conceivably avoidable goals, MM. We have done for what seems like an absolute age. People have commented previously saying that in order to get 3 points we need to score a minimum of 2 goals and I don’t think they’re far wrong on the vast majority of occasions.
Perhaps people are putting perspective on it and saying we are good considering what’s gone before. Even Sky alluded to us playing well. As always there are fine margins, and it’s true that you don’t get the breaks when you’re down there. Annoying that not getting the basics right at crucial times is also costing us as with the 2nd goal last night. Hopefully we’ll continue to improve and collect the necessary points. I
I have read this season , that we have a good defence, the central defenders are great, the full backs are great, we play with 2 defensive midfielders , yet we keep giving bad goals away. I think some people wear rose tinted glasses while watching the Reds. I can understand it , I have done it myself regarding some of our players. I was convinced that we had a world beater when we signed Chris Lumsden and I knew thatwe were going to get promoted that season.
I massively rated him as well but unfortunately he just wasn’t the same player after we signed him permanently. We’ve been rank at the back since January 2017 in my opinion. We have good individuals and the makings of a good defence but for whatever reason we just stand off, react late and allow ourselves to concede terribly awful goals ones that funnily enough we are never gifted at the opposite end.
We are in the bottom four for a reason , but green shoots are appearing & that is why people are being positive , however , there is no magic wand & hopefully gradual improvement will get us over the line but if fans are expecting us to put everything right overnight then there"s going to be a lot of disappointed people , there is no quick fix in this league
Lindsay is the next John Stones, Pinnock is class and we have the best full backs in the division apparently.
We've scored 2 goals twice in 21 league games over 4 months. One goal per game isn't enough unless you're absolutely water tight at the back. As long as we only score one a game, it doesn't matter if we Concede 2 per game or 22. We're fecked. If we cheat relegation by virtue of the teams below us being really bad and us not putting together a decent run, what type of victory will it feel, knowing that we can only look forward to more of the same next season?
Irrespective of where the club is in the Division, I've liked what I've seen with regards to Lindsay, Pinnock, Potts & Jackson so far. They're not the finished article by a long shot, but I believe they'll continue to improve and are decent players. By the same token, the fact we were always near the bottom of the table didn't stop me rating the likes of Hassell, Foster & Steele, either. But as a self confessed Happy Clapper who is reluctant to criticise, I accept that I'm not a proper/real fan unlike those who are willing.
Chin up lad. How to you know we've "more if the same"to look forward to if we stay up? I'd like to think some of these improving players will continue on that trajectory. We'll have a close season to move out some of the players who haven't shown enough potential and, (hopefully) see some investment from the new owners. If we go down, the cream of the crop will likely jump ship and we will be in a worse position to attract new talent. If we stay up there will be nothing hollow in the victory, how ever it comes about. And for what it's worth, I think we'll do it... Just.
They’ll be no cheating involved, if we go down we’ll deserve to go down irrespective of the teams around, likewise if we stay up. If we stay up, to me it’ll be a great victory considering our position at this time. I will relish next season far more if we stay up than if we go down.
Exactly. By my reckoning our record against the 3 teams below us is W5, L1, F13, A4, Pts15. It's hard to argue that we don't deserve to be above those teams.
At the end of the season if our points tally is higher than at least 3 other teams then we’ll have deserved to be above them irrespective of how many points we took from our games with them.
I'm not implying that we do any cheating. "Cheating relegation" is just a figure of speech, as in "cheating death".
I probably worded that badly. What I meant was that not only are we above those teams, which as you say is justification in itself, but we also beat them all individually and collectively head-to-head. If we stay up it'll be on merit whichever way you slice it.
Kev you know me well enough , I was in work at 2 am this morning, i didnt listen to the match and I have missed a few this season, but I guess what I was referring to is the fact that according to what seems the majority on here, our team should be bloody fantastic, but our league position says otherwise, so maybe these players are not as good as we say, but , although the might become better, at the moment we should look and see the reality of our squad. I just wish McBurnie had signed full time, not on loan , because we will be struggling to fill his boots again come the summer. I am probably just a bit knackered and disappointed with this season on the whole. I am just feeling sorry for myself .
Pah! Your sulking and self pity pales into insignificance when compared to mine, old mate, and you damn well know it!
