In a nutshell we don't have one. If McBurnie and Yiadom are in it then it's the best we can do. The rest of it is irrelevant as none of the rest of the squad is Championship quality. I know it's possible but I would be happy to see the entire squad dismantled and start again next season with a bit of quality. The thought of having to watch this same group of players next season fills me with dread.
About sums it up. Those 2 aside the entire squad is of a similar quality and it makes little difference who we select in term of ability
Lindsay is easily good enough to play in a mid table championship side as is Pinnock. I agree with the rest.
What I ment was not matter how many changes we make we never seem any better. We do seem to have decent options at the back and it's almost certainly why we have one of the "better" goal differences at the bottom. The midfield area is non exstitant and we haven't had a striker for the first half of the season and 2 poor goalkeepers.
Ah, You think we’ll stay up then? Whilst there is a fair, strong and reasonable argument about lack of championship quality, we have players who have a good track record of playing and performing in League 1. Perhaps we need to keep these?
I normally agree with what you say Jim, but I just can't get on board with Lindsay. I know these ball playing centre halves are fashionable at the moment but I think his passing is diabolical. In actual defensive ability I think Pinnock is better.
I think we will stay up in spite of ourselves. I can't sit through another season of this. Actually, with regards to staying up ask me again on Easter Monday.
I know the feeling. I really want us to stay up so we can see what the ambitions of the current ownership actually are. If we are to just continue as we are it's very hard work watching. The 4 years last time we were in this league slugging it out at the bottom were awful.
I’d agree about Pinnocks defensive ability but I think they are both good enough for lower mid table championship. Not overpraising Lindsay who if he wants to be a ball playing centre half certainly needs to work on his passing.
The plus point is apart from Mills, Gardner, Hammill & possibly Yiadom & Moore all the squad is at an age where they should be getting better
As for staying up, it’s like I’m reviewing it on a match by match basis. I’m always hopeful of course. If we do stay up, I believe there’ll be quite a number of changes and better quality, so I would be more optimistic. If we go down, we need to remember we have players who were signed because of their performances at that level, so probably no need for a mass exodus.
No matter how it's done we just need to get over the line - even if it's with a record low points. I must say I'm tempted to waive my early bird discount and see what happens in the summer.
You obviously have an issue with lindsay he has been our most stable and consistent defender over the season pinnock looks a decent player although has only played a handful of games he is also a few years older
An issue? I just don't rate him. My opinion. Your opinion is that you do rate him. He has been an ever present for a team that can't defend.
I’ve certainly got an issue with Lindsay. He’s one of the worst passers of a ball i’ve ever seen in a red shirt. His inability to find a player wearing the same colour shirt is unerringly consistent. Not good enough at this level.
Surely someone with you intellectual ability can look beyond lindsay for our team / defensive problems asking a 21 year old to try and control an ever changing defence with goalkeepers shipping goals
