‘Hecky lovers?’ I don’t know why I’m even bothering to reply after a childish comment like that. Why would anyone love him after he’s left us for Leeds? I’ve compared the two squads & believe we should be doing better now given we’ve got a better squad & the most in form striker in the league. What’s your issue with that?
End of the day (as they say) mate, everything else aside, we still only score a goal a game max, with the exception of Birmingham away, so any fine margins in deemed improvement or deterioration are not really relevant.
We’ve actually scored more than 1 in a game under Jose so that’s an improvement right?? In all seriousness, you can’t really compare home and away fixtures. Boro were terrible when they came to Oakwell and we still nearly messed it up. They’re now on a charge under a better manager with more in form players. It’s very harsh to to be judging after 5 games particularly with 4 of them being away from home and the one home game the manager had been in the job what 3 days? The next 3 home games are huge and will give me some indication to where we are and if we have improved at all.
We didn’t. McCarthy & Pearson were our only two available full backs for a long time until Fryers got fit & replaces Pearson & then Yiadom came back in late October I think it was. Cavare wasn’t fit til December. Basically as soon as Yiadom was fit McCarthy was dropped. Wouldn’t you agree we had a weaker team back then? McCarthy, Pearson, Moncur, Hammill, Bradshaw all regular starters. I’m not saying any manager we would’ve got would’ve had a great knowledge of our squad but in the middle of a relegation battle I think it’s a massive gamble appointing someone who’s never managed over here & has very little knowledge of the football league. Jose & Dimas are talking in press conferences about how much work they’re doing scouting the opposition yet we’ve been out of the last 2 games after 30 minutes. E.g. A Gary Monk type, he’s already come up against every team in our league for the past couple of seasons already knows lots about them & will have more knowledge of our team. I’m not saying we should’ve appointed him but just using him as an example. You’ve got to stay in them games against top sides for as long as possible, keep it tight & try & nick one on the counter or hope you get a bit of luck with a sending off, an injury to a key player or a dodgy decision. I agree it’s too early to judge him, I’ve put originally that the jury’s still out, I’m just worried by what I’ve seen & heard so far.
I agree, I do think it’s early to judge I’m just worried by what I’ve seen & heard so far. The goal thing is a big part of what’s worrying me, how do we sign a quality striker who starts scoring for fun yet results aren’t really improving? We better hope he stays fit because we seemed to have stopped defending since he joined
Not really it was against Birmingham - a side thats so poor their fans were singing how sh*t must we be its only 2-0 McBurnie has improved our side - of that there is no doubt. I'd say Moore has improved us as well - not so sure about the other signings yet Losing Barnes was a blow ( Not Ugbo though) Of course its too soon to say whether our new manager is an improvement or not, but the points about not playing Yiadom and setting up to defend - which we are clearly not good enough at are fairly valid As you say the next 4 games are massive - anything less than 6 points from them will be a disaster - and I cant see us getting 2 wins based on on current tactics and selections
Yeah it is worrying but we’ve just played 2 teams going for promotion/the play offs. Next 2 games against mid table sides will hopefully mean we pick up some points. I think no matter what happens this season, the manager and coaching staff will all be here next year. Hopefully it’s another season in the championship.
Yeah the first part of my reply wasn’t a serious remark, in fact it is very worrying how poor our goal scoring exploits have been this season. Yeah I’m not sure on the Yiadom thing yesterday, I’d guess he wanted to save him so he’s 100% for Norwich and Millwall but he would’ve fairer far better against Traore you would’ve thought. 6 points from the 3 home games would be good given how poor the teams below us are. We need them to continue being very poor because that’s probably how we’re going to stay up.
It'd make a pleasant change if we can get that first goal in our upcoming home matches, something that's rarely happened this season. As everyone is more than aware, our home record has been awful since we returned to the Championship and that definitely needs to change in these last six games at Oakwell. Still keeping the faith.
The first goal is a big thing for us mate. Came out of the blocks very positively against Birmingham and Hull, but didn't start until the second half at Cardiff and Boro. I know the latter are better teams, but if you're not in it not can't win it, and attitude can sometimes help bridge the gap in quality.
Another disgraceful post about the young players at the club as bad as redstar’s post on Gardner lost total respect for any of your comments
You need to look up the meaning of the word "disgraceful". Where did I specify I was talking about young players?
The bulk of the players at the club are young ,we have the youngest squad in the league or didn’t you know that and I’m perfectly aware of the meaning of disgraceful
What do you want folk to post? As I’ve already posted, that was posted after a specific moment in the game where he was just that. He’s not our player and he’s not making any real difference. He’s not alone in the latter like

These are all good questions. In particular I think dropping Yiadom to the bench for this game was a mistake. Fryers v Pinillos - I take your point, but I'm not sure Fryers would have done better. It looked like we missed Potts? The jury is out for me, but I live in hope...
What word would you use to describe seven wins from 36 games with less than a goal a game? I've not seen my team win since August bank holiday weekend. I think diabolical is pretty accurate.
