and good riddance http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-south-yorkshire-43533991 Brings back some unhappy memories of events from my childhood
Shame that the family of that young lass didn't get the guilty verdict they wanted for closure and to feel they had got justice. But good riddance to the horrible scum.
All happened on my doorstep and at my school. He destroyed her family as well . He should have been castrated then hung up to dry. The filthy barstewad
Made for grim reading. I'd doubt her family ever recovered from that. Heartbreaking. Such a pity he survived to 80.
My childhood home backed onto his garden. Luckily the ****** was locked up just before l was born, my parents never told me the full story, l only heard it recently. We used to call his house, the bat house, it had a derelict outbuilding until someone bought it and renovated it.
Dark Sinister. I knew Shirley. Same class at school. Police came to our house to ask if I’d seen her. Horrible mental person - he should never have been allowed out.
He served time from 1966 to 1972 and then from 1972 till his death. He was guilty of manslaughter in 1972 through diminished responsibility and was held in secure accommodation since. He's now being held in a secure coffin.
Can't verify this yet cos she's at work but my wife knew her well and may even have been in the same class at school. I'll get back later.
Thanks. I'm from the Wath Road end of town. I'll be there on Friday before the match. A couple of my parents' neighbours are pensioners and may remember the case.
He took his van to the Barnsley Road address, he had been spotted by 2 miners in Doncaster, one slapped the top of his vehicle. He had cleaned the vehicle inside and it was spotless. He couldn't say he wasn't there when the handprint on the top was checked. This to my knowledge is how he was caught so quickly, passed down from the arresting officers to each new local Wombwell based PC
He lived on Barnsley road when he killed Shirley Boldy. Her boyfriend lived on Hough Lane. That's according to a newspaper report at the time.
He lived on Hough Lane! I could give you the exact address but don't think that is fair to current residents. His mother lived at the Barnsley Road address but I am guessing that may have been the residence to which he had been released from prison for an earlier misdemeanor and therefore his official address. His mother owned rental properties around Wombwell and his house in Hough Lane was one of them. He split his time between the two houses. It was at the Hough Lane house (in the yard behind) that he actually cleaned his van!
