If there was anyone else within the coaching set up I'd say give them a chance, Hassell as far as I can tell is the most senior, which in itself says a lot, but he'd likely place emphasis on clean sheet and battling for points, his playing style and general demeanor indicates as much, he'd also know the importance of connecting with the fans and he's been in a fair few relegation battles as a player..

The current management team could be awful or great. I don't think we can work that out based on the awful squad we have.

 

You’ve got a absolutely no idea what his ethos as a coach would be. Do you think morais’ emphasis isn’t on clean sheets and points? Do you think he says “here lads concede a few embarrassing goals and whatever you do do not get any points”?
Playing style has little to no impact on coaching style. Lots of world class players completely humiliate themselves as managers - the Nevilles for example.
The problem isn’t the tactics it’s the players. No amount of bobby hassell saying “don’t let sloppy goals in” will make them instantly capable of doing that.

This is the thing isn't it. No amount of coaching will make players better than they are able. Some may still improve over time, but many may never be championship standard.

I am a decent snooker player, I can make 30 40 breaks fairly regularly. Now if I were to be coached by Stephen Hendry and Ronnie O'Sullivan I would probably improve. But I doubt I would ever be able to get anything close to a professional standard. Coaching has it's limits.
Pep Guardiola has improved Raheem Sterlings game no end, but the lad obviously had potential and ability. He looked at Joe Hart and thought I can't make him good enough so he moved him on.

 

Or thought Hart was too old and wanted a younger player in that position who could play for the next 5-10 years?

That's a fair assessment that's been lost in a sea of Joe Hart and his shithousery.

Our squad is currently "better" than it was under Hecky, yet were closer to the relegation spots than we ever were under his leadership.

I hate Paul for what he did, but I'm pretty sure that we wouldn't be in the position we are now if he was still here.

Here’s a hard bloody truth.

We are not good enough. Been same with two managers now. Hammil was given automatic starts by trading on past glories despite 0 goals and 0 assists this year. Play 4-4-2 and ‘the best players’ is what we did for every losing game between November and February.

If you want to sack the manager and replace him with Hassell, I’m afraid you are completely naive.

This is the same Hassell that doesn’t do that much, if any, coaching as far as I’m aware. His name is being banded around as an alternative to Morais simply because he’s a club legend and nothing more.

 

This is it, Hammill may well be worth a place in our best 11. Certainly was up to Christmas for me, and that's the problem. He is/was one of our better players and he has been terrible. Our best 11 is poor, the starters are poor and so are the replacements. We have played 442 451 532 433. We have tried endless different team selections. And for all that we have looked terrible all season long. Even in games where we have more of the ball we rarely look like scoring. We are about 8 or 9 players short of a good squad.

 

Adam Hammill has 0 assists because every cross he put into the box was aimed at Tom Bradshaw - who was being marked by 3 giants.

If he had McBurnie and Moore to aim at, id wager it would be more. Not many more like, but more.
