Morais’ ability to play both Moore and McBurnie up top is severely curtailed due to the fact that we don’t have the requisite midfielders that are capable of effectively competing in a central midfield two at Championship level.

The two who you’d think could compete are Gardner and Williams but then that leaves us in some people’s eyes as being overtly defensive and devoid of creativity from central areas.

If we play a more attacking central midfielder who lacks the defensive side of the game then we get overrun as we’ve seen on numerous occasions.

In fairness McBurnie was often alongside Moore and in fact the two on occasion switched when Moore peeled off, won the initial header into McBurnie.

This system isn’t ideal but in my opinion it’s the one that gets both Moore and McBurnie into the team without compromising our midfield.

This may surprise some but if the stats as reported on today's games are confirmed then for the season to date we have the fourth highest number of shots per game in the whole league.

Trouble is, only McBurnie has anything like an acceptable conversion rate. For most of the season the others haven't been able to hit a cow's backside with a banjo.

Correct and many on here lost all credibility when they expressed indignance at his sacking.

I can remember people at the time saying if we had stuck with danny we would of been promoted the next season. Similar to when people say if he my had moore and mcburnie we would have had 6 points last 2 games.....

I agree to an extent. However, if you're happy putting McBurnie wide left and leaving Fryers exposed it doesn't give much support to it leaves us stronger.

I'd be playing Gardner & Williams, my two best wingers & my two best full backs & hitting Moore early.

Yiadom & McCarthy. I can't get my head round us swapping em about.

I don't particularly rate McCarthy btw but Yiadom is our best left back by a mile.

As we’ve seen on here tonight though people are wanting 4-4-2 but then referring to Gardner and Williams as the ‘crab twins”. They’re wanting 4-4-2 but with Mallan or Moncur being one of the two central midfielders which for me just wouldn’t work.

Who are your two wingers/full backs?

McCarthy is a defensive liability - not unique to him of course

We have one full back good enough - Yiadom

I agree. McCarthy least worst beyond that.

We really have been so poor in front of goal all season. Think I’ve only seen us score more than 1 four times this season.

Today we could’ve scored 3 or 4 and put the game to bed. I get that players miss chances but these are big, big chances.

Which kind of comes back to Morais only being able to use what he has!

We're never gonna agree Paul. My point is his options are limited, his players aren't great but his system & decision making is making that worse IMHO.

McCarthy is the worst fullback we have by a long way. He is appalling at defending.
