Given we played in the main ok today; could, probably should, have won - but came short, I have a drastic suggestion. Call it ‘thinking outside the box’ as management types put it.

Why don’t we try, and bear with me here, playing Oli McBurnie - wait for it - as a centre forward?

I might be being daft but I just think it’s possible that he might be more effective without getting chalk on his boots stuck on the left wing.

Whilst i do like the idea the problem with that is what midfield do you choose to play behind them? If you play two wingers that leaves just two in the middle. Which two would you trust?

    Formation 352

    Goalie

    Lyndsay Jackson pinnock

    Yiadom Potts Gardner moncur hammill

    Moore mcburnie.

If we look to be struggling yids drop back to rb and pinnock play left back and play 4132.

We are getting 50% of mcburnies potential when he plays wide left and izzy hammill Thiam hedges could all play that we role probably as well and mcburnie and Moore would both benefit from playing as a two.

We’ve looked appalling every time we’ve played 3-5-2.

We don’t have good enough wing backs to do it.

Unlike the above I would go 4-4-2.

I thought Moncur looked ok today, bordering good, but no I couldn’t play him in a 2.

As much as it’s been an annoyance to me, id go with Williams and Gardner. Mallan and Moncur couldn’t be trusted and as much as h tries I don’t think Potts could either.

I’d play proper wingers, not Potts or Moncur, even Mallan out there.

Hammill, Isgrove, Mahoney maybe. Not sure I’d fancy Thiam to do the defensive side but he is the best crosser if a ball I suppose so he’d be considered

id put yids at left back and start McCarthy on monday, fryers had a stinker yesterday and I dont rate pinnios at all ,
agree that mcburnie needs to be down the middle but I would not leave out moore, worked his socks off again
moncur was class yesterday , not seen anyone mention this yet on here, hes the only midfielder that can move with the ball at his feet
potts still getting a lot of stick which I think is a bit unfair
should have got all the points though yesterday,
if we can show that fight through the rest of the season we have a chance

Start McCarthy ? Sorry you’ve lost me already. Arguably Cavare but Yids is a much better Right back.

Funnily enough we conceded the 2nd goal while oli was up front. Played well yesterday and Moore was exceptional as the central striker. Lack of quality in both boxes was the reason we lost, not because mcburnie played on the left. A position he's played most weeks and scored a few goals doing so.

Up front on his own though. Moore had gone off.

We've tried that twice this season and been well beaten both times.

I know. But seeing as we played well overall yesterday changing formation doesn't seem the best move to me. And despite missing one sitter Moore was very effective up top. Plus Mcburnie's scored plenty from the left so dont see it as an issue.
