Lots of great memories there. Remember us deciding to wear all white strip in the fog at York. Hoping to ghost through their defence?

The curse of the cameras vs Torquay ... first time I remember us being on MOTD.

Barry Murphy's flares, Allan Clarke's lapels, and the immaculate JP. Thanks for sharing

My first couple of visits to Vicarage Road were about that time and the weird thing about that ground was that visitors had to take a long detour past the ground and round a big area of allotments before coming back up the hill to the away turnstiles. Not sure if that still applies.

Last time I was there was when Kayode smashed them and we won 3-0 there. Was an easy trip for me from Princes Risborough.

About the time I started proper. Players I first remember. Remember us in league 4 think we went up against Rotherham then up from league 3 against Grimsby.
Not checked just what I recollect

If it was a cold day as suggested, note
    • Short sleeved shirts but no gloves.
    • No Under Armour base layers (other brands are available)
    • No undershorts
Try telling the young people of today that and they won't believe ya

The other way round. 21,000 gate for the Grimsby promotion game to the third (2-1 win) and around 26,000 for the Rotherham 1-0 victory on our way to the Second Division

I still can't believe Alan Clarke told John Saunders he was getting released at the end of the season just prior to the Grimsby game.Saunders even put his disappointment behind him to score that night.

Yes, very poignant occasion for a good servant.
