Our chance conversion all season has been our Achilles heel from what I’ve seen. And if you keep passing up opportunities, you increase the likelihood of the opposition getting a result. I would love us to get battered on Saturday but have one shot and win 1-0. I’ll be honest, it looked bleak this time last week. It’s in our own hands now again. But last night was a missed opportunity.
Agree with that, our finishing has been abysmal, particularly in key home games like Hull, Ipswich, Reading, Wednesday and Burton (second half). Believe it or not and contrary to the view that we've been dull all season, we're actually sixth in shots per game (prior to last night) and way out of kilter with most of the other teams around the bottom end of the table. Brentford 17.54 shots per game QPR 14.1 Cardiff 13.98 Fulham 13.8 Norwich 13.76 Barnsley 13.73 Millwall 13.37 Preston 13.34 Wolves 13.07 Birmingham 12.61 Aston Villa 12.41 Nott'm Forest 12.4 Hull 12.34 Middlesbrough 12.34 Sheffield Weds 12.34 Bristol City 12 Derby 12 Leeds 11.8 Sheffield United 11.68 Sunderland 10.83 Bolton 10.37 Reading 10.17 Ipswich 10.05 Burton 8.22 We're also seventh in shots on target per game with only the top 3 in the league, surging Millwall, shot-tastic Brentford and high scorers Hull above us. We have lost a boatload of points this season by not scoring when we've been on top in games imho. Not sure about belief, we need some more ruthlessness in front of goal Jose (Oli excepted).
Sorry I must have missed the bit where we scored after taking them off ? Hedges is rubbish ! If we did score after taking off those 2 wingers , I will publically eat Dragon tykes underpants on the Town Hall steps !!
Professional athletes tired . Naw don't buy that . Back in my early thirties I played Saturday and Sunday park football . Admittedly not at the same intensity but then again I didn't have a full pre season like the professionals of any day . 70 to 80 games a season plus playing alternate days for two weeks at the end of a season . No problem !
