He should be allowed a pre season to prepare and time to put his mark on at least half of that season before being judged imo
Yes I know what you mean Vesp, and to be honest I thought it was that sort of thread as well before I read it. Its not the usual manager out because hes rubbish type thread, thats what Im thinking anyway. As for Jose's position being untenable now, well I don't know if its that bad just yet.
I think you’re bang on the money here. When PH left we were linked in the press with so many candidates of varying degrees of experience and success yet they were virtually all to a man maligned by the BBS contingent. Monk, McClaren, Clement, Ross et al were all slated at one time or another yet a lot of the same people are now saying that it should’ve been someone of a similar ilk to Monk, which is classic captain hindsight material. You only have to look at the nature of some of the criticism levelled at Morais’ door to see that it’s not totally related to his performance as our manager.
I can see @Redstar 's point and I think Jose has had some completely out of order comments directed at him. He has improved the entertainment and there is no doubt that the players are playing for him- He has definitely improved things but has made a few strange decisions which may have cost us points. Im not sure he is the right man to lead us on a promotion push from the 3rd division next season if we go down but I am more than happy to give him a chance if the board back him, though not sure I'd have appointed him in the first place. Trouble is as pointed out in this thread there are a sizeable number of football geniuses who support us and would have had us safe already if they were in charge ( quite a feat with the players available imo) and I dont know if Jose can turn it round Also and I dont like to post this but I fear a number of the Anti Jose brigade might be less sympathetic due to the fact he is foreign and not white He should be given a chance over the summer to rebuild and lead the promotion push but I dont think he will be if we go down My biggest worry is he doesnt seem to be a lucky manager - not had much of it since he took over - significant refereeing decisions sitters missed and goalkeeping and defensive mistakes all costing us points and all things he hasn't much control over
Seriously, who on here is against him because of his skin colour and/or his nationality alone ?. That just sounds like a daft suggestion!.
McLaren until the season's end would have been a good call, in my opinion. We could then have co-opted him as director of football and got our recruitment back on a better footing. Thing is though, Gautier's credibility is heavily invested in Jose, in my guess.
Players out of position, negative substitutions; giving away initiative in winning positions, making players scapegoats, alienating players from matchday squads, lack of discipline resulting in players fighting each other, sitting like a lemon on the sideline during matches. Rinse and repeat.
I don't think it's him not being "one of our own" why the supporter base has largely turned agains him. From what I can gather, it's more pure disappointment and even bafflement at some of the line ups/tactics he and his team have used. That may largely be due to their/our expectations being set too high, what with the links to Mourinho and some of the clubs and players he has worked with, when in reality, his management style isn't anything like the more famous "J.M". Thats not his fault either, but you can't blame fans for expecting to see similarities.
Yeah we are all racist. We don't actually like the idea of Darren Moore as our boss and can't believe people think guys like Bruce Dyer and Darren Moore are held in high regard.
1. Players out of position - Who? McBurnie who has 8 goals, 7 of which have come when he was played LF or LW as opposed to in a central 2. 2. Negative substitutions - When? Which ones? 3. Giving away the initiative - When? 4. Making players scapegoats - Who? 5. Alienating players from matchday squad - Do you really think that he’s not picking his best side for the laugh? 6. Lack of discipline - That was a leaked training ground incident. I know for a fact that this has happened dozens of times at Oakwell but hasn’t been leaked or reported. It was leaked at a time when everyone seemed obsessed with posting a rumour to undermine the regime. 7. Sitting like a lemon - Absolute rubbish. It doesn’t happen. I sit in the West behind the dugout and it’s a fallacy. Your reply absolutely reeks of someone just buying into everything that’s posted without thinking for yourself. Absolutely awful.
That makes no sense. It’s quite possible to like Bruce Dyer and Darren Moore, yet succumb to racial biases that lead you to give a non-white football manager less time to prove himself than a white football manager. It would also still be racist.
Morais might not want to stay and manage a league 1 side it's ridiculous to say it's his fault we're in this situation the damage was done in Heckinbottom's tenure whether it was all Hecky's fault is another thing as mistakes were made at all levels of management All we can hope for is a quick return to the championship armed with a better knowledge of how to compete
I think a lot of people wrongly place too much emphasis on managers It’s players that win the football matches and our players have shown that they’re not up to championship standard by and large I’m not disputing a good motivator can make that extra bit of difference but to compete at this level we need to spend money or better quality players.
