Sadly no. I understand why people may want to give him a transfer window to "bring in his own players"... though i'm perplexed if any of our coaches are allowed that anymore, so its hard to judge a coach on that alone. The reason I wouldn't ask him to be here next season is how he's failed to galvanise what we have. We had a far worse team under Flitcroft but showed desire and willing to not be beaten.

The tactics are baffling, the team selection confusing and the stories of division are well trotted out. We're at war with ourselves, not the opposition or trying to salvage the situation. It's a whimper and not the never say die I'd expect from a team with Barnsley DNA in it.

Aside from Hammill and Bradshaw, i've not seen great deal of physical exertion. No bodies on the line to stop shots or crosses, little verbal dialogue between players. There is apathy.

That has to stem from the manager.

League one is about greater determination, physicality and desire. We've failed to harness that in the Championship, I can't see how we'd suddenly gain that from this manager in League 1.

The tactics are not baffling - 4-3-3 with the ball 4-5-1 without it maybe its a revolution in South Yorkshire but its pretty much used in every major league on the planet by at least some teams. Now, trying to implement that in the final 1/4 of a season when we need points is certainly a gamble, but given what's gone before what is there to lose? We can't play 4-4-2 because our midfield isn't good enough, but then we have wingers and strikers who fit that shape, so its a bit of a no win situation. We keep coming back to the same problem - the midfield isn't good enough.

    No,

Too many players used out of position. Too many changes to starting 11 each week. Too many sloppy goals conceded and finally not enough points on board. I know he is not directly responsible for individual errors that lead to goals and he cannot help that I guess but he is the one training them each week and defensively we are not good enough.

    4-3-3 is not baffling

But when you commonly have Moore as the target man and have your other two of the 3 pinning the touchline and your midfield so deep, Moore, should he win it, has to head or flick the ball 40 yards. I don't care if you're Drogba, you aint going to manage that much over the course of 90 minutes.

So no, 4-3-3 isn't a baffling tactic. The way we've been playing it though with the incessant chopping and changing doesn't help when you have a unit of players who aren't being given opportunity to forge anything consistent, whatever the ceiling of their talent and energy levels may be.

And yes, wholeheartedly agree, the midfield isn't good enough. That's the crux for me, a good midfield will assist you defensively and help you create, and chip in with goals. It's telling with 3 games left, most of us, coaches past and present included, probably don't know what out best system and team selection is.

YES. What BMW says. Give him a fair crack, it worked for us once with LJ, although perhaps not the second time with PH.

For someone with good stuff to say ,you do let yourself down at times, I hope you don’t lower your standards to the level of some on here, maybe we should have two forums , one for foul mouth rants and one for good debate
