I suppose it’s a fine line because if they said they were going to look to invest heavily to take us back up at the first attempt then as soon as we put a bid in for a player the price goes up.
I just take comfort in the fact that the recourses available are now a million miles away from anything we’ve had before . PC loved the club of that I’ve no doubt but he never had the funds to move the club forward but with the new owners they could do virtually anything they wanted within reason . That’s what I take some comfort in anyway
Surely anyone we employ with experience has failed elsewhere though, hence being available? It’s not always about experience, particularly in this game.
Of course it isn't their fault but they had their first two massive decisions to make to save our season . Firstly to get more quality into the squad during January and then Heckys replacement . They failed miserably on both .
They brought in recruits that on paper ticked all the boxes. The only thing we didn’t do in January was sign a keeper which is inexcusable. Mills, Pinillos, Knasmüllner, Mahoney, Moore and McBurnie. If you’re criticising that then it’s with the benefit of hindsight and 100% after the event.
And the point in starting another thread to discuss exactly the same topic as the last one is what? Just post in the other thread. Or does that not give you enough attention?
Problem is they don't have that love for the club that Patrick had . We're just a small part of their portfolio so I can't see them spending much more than they have to .I wait with baited breath .
Always ! , think that’s the very definition of a “ supporter” and what sets folk like me apart from those ******* walking down the street with Man U and Liverpool shirts on etc
Hecky new what he needed but instead we were scratching about at midnight praying that the likes of Knasmuller would sign . If the new owners were serious about keeping us up Hecky would have got the players he wanted . I really hope I'm wrong about the new owners but so far they've done nothing . Oh apart from the Times Square thingy.
We targeted Moore, Knasmüllner, Manzala and Epheistion (spelling) early doors. We got stitched by the agents with regards to the last two and Knasmüllner was clearly waiting for other offers from elsewhere. Their agents played the game, I don’t think we can be criticised for that.
They can and should be critisiced . These players were totally random leftfield signings unlikely to make a difference to a relegation battle . If our billionnaire owners were serious about keeping us up they could have done.
Club saved from extinction 10 seasons in the 2nd tier Winning the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Two promotions from the 3rd tier FA Cup Semi Final FA Cup Quarter Final Nah...We've done nothing under Patrick Cryne's stewardship.
Give up there’s been hardly anybody criticising the new owners that I’ve noticedcertainly on here. But obviously I ‘m not local so don’t hear the talk
Who would you have targeted at the time without the benefit of hindsight? Mills - experienced Championship CB. Knasmüllner - excellent prolific season. Moore - see above. Pinillos - better on paper than what we had and had nothing but excellent reviews from his time at Forest. McBurnie - speaks for itself. Manzala - didn’t get him but was a target. Ephestion - see above. Mahoney - long term target and excellent at Blackburn. I’m not sure who else we could’ve and should’ve been targeting other than securing a keeper, as previously mentioned.
You are forgetting the relegations, the years of not being able to compete in the championship, the dreadful football played under the likes of Simon Davy, hill and Johnson to name but three. Just for a bit of balance like
