The board don't dictate to the manager who to buy.The manager gives his recommendations and the Ceo/board get the deals over the line.
If I was a billionnaire mate I'd have bought players that would have ensured our survival which wouldn't have taken much cos the league is poor this year. We all know what we needed but apart from Mcburnie and Moore we bought rubbish .
I'm sure people can subtract 10 from 15 to work out we spent 5 seasons outside the 2nd tier. The point of the post was showing the achievements, as Nudge said there hadn't been any.
That's how it should be but you don't really believe that do you? Have a look back at some of Heckys interviews during January. I'm not sure he knew who Knasmullner was .
Well either the recruited players have turned out to be failures, or the coach's ability to get the best out of them has ended in failure. Must admit I don't know which it is. Or if it's both.
I wasn't backing up nudger, I was just trying to point out that by and large most of those seasons in the championship were pretty *****. 2016-17 14th 58pts 2013-14 23rd 39pts 2012-13 21st 55pts 2011-12 21st 48pts 2010-11 17th 56pts 2009-10 18th 54pts 2008-09 20th 52pts 2007-08 18th 55pts 2006-07 20th 50pts
Nearly. He's got a bit more than 50m though . I agree , the new owners have more brass than Steve Gibson therefore we should be the new Middlesbrough.
He owns a club with double the home gates as we do & has triple the wealth PC did. Also their model for success comes with considerable risks. They lost £32m in their last successful promotion push. Then a transfer deficit of £40m last year. That kind of financial gambling wouldn’t play out so well with our club if we lost £32m to reach the promised land and failed. See your point though.....
They aren’t are they? Surely the only (deserved) stick they’re getting is about appointing Morais? They’ve had one real decision to make & have got it wrong so they’re bound to get a bit of stick. No issue with recruitment apart from not getting a goalie it’s just devastating we’ve managed to sign one of the best strikers in the league but at the same time lost all cohesion & organisation & look like going down
Correct. We had a few good moments but most of the time we were rooted to the foot of the Championship or in League 1. Nothing built on the field. Nothing built off the field. Many fans drifting away. We now have a new start - although a stuttering one. Lets hope we don’t evolve into one of those wealthy clubs that has no football no how.
At the time the general feeling in the here and Tykes Mad was it was a decent window with just a keeper missing.
Absolutely. The only difference now is that the signings are being judged on how they’ve actually performed and alongside the fact that we’re looking down the barrel.
