I had high hopes for this lad, but was very concerned that we signed him soon after a very bad injury. I know it takes time after a bad injury, but hes not made a mark or barely played while on loan. did we not pay a million for him?

Going over the transfers in the last year we have paid some hefty amounts out compared to what we have spent previous years. we seem to have wasted alot of money. Thaim looks like he has potential, but for 1 million more or less you would expect more.

Made zero sense to loan him out in January. Needs to be training with us and getting game time.

I would have much preferred us to have gone in for Carey at Plymouth rather than McGeehan.. Seemed to be Heckys number 1 target as well. Be interesting to see if we cash in on him or try and bring him into the fold next season.

Let’s see what MCGeehan can do with a full pre season to get fitness and games. Hasn’t worked out at Scunny but when we were in League 1 Scowen fitted in at right back because he couldn’t get in central midfield ahead of Brownhill and Hourihane. Doesn’t always reflect a players ability. Scunny are going for playoffs so must have a decent enough team.

Still too early to write him off but he would definitely have got more playing time here. Cant see him been any worse than potts.

Definitely. Still quite incomprehensible how people are writing him and Knasmullner off. We've hardly seen either of them, and McGeehan is coming back from a really serious injury. Steve Davis was also hardly seen in his first two years and he did ok.

The fact that he hasn't played doesn't mean he isn't going to have an impact here. He was a good player that became available and we signed him on a 3 year contract. As you say he has just come back from a serious injury and needed a run in the team which we couldn't give him. He might not have got an extended run at Scunny either but he's back here for another 2 years now and has the chance to make an impact. A full pre-season will do him the world of good.

    Why?

What good would it have done had we not sent him out. He needed games. We couldn't give him the run he needed. We were top heavy on players in his position. The fact that he hasn't played for Scunthorpe regularly is frustrating, however the intention was correct. The lad hasn't had a full pre-season since prior to his injury. The amount of money we paid for him just shows how much we rated him.

1.1 Million Pounds, that can't be right? Surely we did research on that type of injury,I hope we have taken out an Insurance policy against him not being able to play at a high level.

We'll, it's €1.1m euros... But yeah, it's nuts we'd pay that kind of wedge for a player who was still nowhere near full fitness...
