As I understand it the club have the option to extend his contract by one year. However that would mostly likely be on the same terms, i.e wage. If we stay up he may not be in the plans, if we go down he may be too expenaive on his current wage. Now the club could try and negotiate a lower wage but once they do that he could look elsewhere.
we are owned by billionares not like we cannot afford him at least they should give him the respect for all he has done for this club being loyal as you can say most have not been whose been here,,, he deserves it and i think he has a couple of years or so in him left wether we drop a division or not,,,, hammil ya too good to go out chewing grass yet mate
I’ll be honest, I’ve not seen a huge amount of Australian football but I would hazard a guess that he is too good for that level. Stay here Adam where tha loved!
Down to both parties really. Suppose it's a conversation for next week once we know what league we are going to be in.
Much as all reds fans love Adam and much as I'm sure he loves us the chance of a couple of years in Oz, maybe more, would be very, very tempting to someone if they like the idea of the sun and the lifestyle. If that's what he wants good luck to him he'd go with my thanks for some wonderful memories. I'd rather he stayed mind, or at least came back when he gets tired of endless barbies and fizzy beer.
All this started because he mentioned he was going to Australia during the summer break. How they have managed to wangle an article out of that I’ve no idea.
Personally, I'd like to see him in the middle of the park, again, against Derby. If he plays like he did against Brentford, I'd make that his new position next season...along with the captaincy. At 30, his flying wingman days may be behind him, but he certainly still has the energy, and more importantly, the desire.
Hoping it wasn’t a flash in the pan but he showed the energy and urgency we’ve desperately missed in the centre. Watching the match back he was very impressive. Our central midfield has been our weak link this year. Not having a pop at any one player but collectively we just haven’t been championship quality for long enough periods in enough games. They haven’t protected the defense meaning they have seemed poorer, and they haven’t created enough or scored enough to support the front players. If we are to get anything out of Sunday, whoever plays next to Hammill and Gardner needs the game of the season - be that Potts (likely) or Moncur. Can’t see Knasmullner or Mallan being thrown in.
Totally agree. If this central position is to be Hammill's role, then he can afford to lose a yard of pace there. Added to this, it's allowing Mahoney to improve game on game. Gardner is bizarrely far more adventurous since his pairing with Williams was broken up, and Potts just grows on me as each game passes. If it's taken right up until the penultimate match of the season (Brentford) to find the best blend of players and positions, then so be it, but we are capable of going to Derby and controlling our own destiny rather than being sat on our phones looking for scores elsewhere. Love Barnsley, Love Hammill and Love The Championship Next Season. You Reds!!!!!
If they can agree personal terms. Pretty sure he could be set for a move anywhere if they can agree personal terms.
Ahh really? I assumed it would be lower than that, maybe league 2 level. Either way, I hope he stays here.
Hamill has done nothing all year UNTILL he played down the middle . Without doubt last Saturday was the best performance ive seen all year In Fairness if you said he was off a month ago id say thank you and goodbye ,but after last week id say he has still got it to perform like the old Adam either way good luck
