Hammill: "We owe a performance for the fans." Match Previews Adam Hammill insists he would sacrifice his winners medals to ensure Barnsley maintain their Championship status at Derby County on Sunday. Continue reading on the official site...
“We want to be playing in this division next season” Maybe it’s just wishful thinking but that doesn’t sound like the words of someone seeking a move away?
"Liverpool and Barnsley are my two clubs they are my life" real quality interview from a top lad and you can tell he just isn't saying what he thinks people want to hear he means it. I hope more than anything he scores the winner Sunday.
I've said elsewhere, but this just reinforces it, we have to give him a new contract and make him captain next season. The man that leads his team out should be passionate about his club and Adam certainly is. He loves Barnsley and he just loves playing football. You can even see that in the pre-match warm up when they call the players in, always last one off the pitch and can't walk past a ball without one last attempt at hitting the cross bar or curling one in from the centre circle, or 'megsing' Toby Tyke. It's like he has a football form of Tourette's. He's adopted Barnsley as is home. Fans favourite. For me, new contract, new captain and potentially (we may get a second chance to judge tomorrow) new role in the middle of the park.
