Recruitment Staff

Many on here have questioned last season's recruitment. There are three members of staff on the club website assigned to recruitment. Did they come up short, or are they doing their best with inadequate budgets?

 

If GG interview yesterday on radio sheff is to be taken on face value not sure they are going to be needed.
There’s a chance that some of it could be bad English.
But he said some of the players have been a revelation this season
The players brought in are under contract , so guess they will be staying although paid less due to relegation clauses . Sure that will spur them on !!
And there will be no new buisness this summer
Not quite sure what that means.
No money for new players , just utilising what we have got plus loan players maybe

 

In his interview in the Yorkshire Post he says we need to bring the right players in and that obviously we need to recruit.

 

Not sure he said no new business:

“I think there is a good core. Obviously we are going to need to recruit.“The team is not a shambles. Most of the players are under contract. We have to rebuild with players going in and out.“If we do everything we have to do during the summer we will come back to the Championship. It will be another tough season, but if we work hard enough we will do it."

 

Would let Mowatt go if we can.

Personally think the rest of the squad at that level would be competitive. A pacy forward to add a different option to Moore and Bradshaw who I think would be a good partnership at that level.

The reporter asks him about what they are going to do in the summer.
Sure some will go and come , but you get the feeling from that interview it will be minor / not many changes and they believe the squad for league 1 will be good enough

There’s nothing wrong with the intentions of our strategy, the problem is that we had to sign about 16 or 17 in one season, it should be 5 or 6 a season with a couple been sold on for profit & a couple probably not been good enough each season.

I think most of last summers signings will prove to be good buys with the possible exception of McGeehan due to his leg break

 

I think McGheehan after a full pre season and a league below will be far better. I think if we hadn’t signed him when we did we may never have got the chance to sign him.
