Someone said on here last week that Adam wanted to stay here but his Mrs didn't. Puts those rumours to bed.

With it sounding as definite as it does, the club have either told him they're not offering him a deal or we're exercising some sort of self imposed rule about players above the age of 30, similar to the one West Brom had all those years ago when we were interested in signing Kevin Phillips.

It does seem odd though that we've made public the fact that we're moving on Mills and Townsend, and are tying to tie up deals for Yiadom and Walton, but made no real intentions known about Adam's future.

Adam Hammill is an adopted TYKE.

None of the players should be going anywhere - the new manager has to make those decisions.
Adam Hammill could easily do a job for us in League 1.

It will be very sad to see him go. I thought us going down would be the most likely scenario for him staying as I'm sure he could still have a big impact in League One and on shaping a new generation.
He goes with heartfelt thanks and leaves memories of someone clearly devoted to the club and a catalogue of fine goals including two of the finest and most important ever seen from a Barnsley player.

Very sad to see him go. If Perth is where he is going I wish him well and hopefully there will always be a place for him here under the coaching staff if he ever goes down that career path in the future.

What an absolute shame. Not only has he been a great player for us, he has been such a likeable role model too. My daughter, Scarlett, will be gutted as she idolises him and there hasn't been much to cheer over the last year but watching Adam has been a real incentive for her to attend games. We need to start thinking of fans of the future and players that draw them in as my support is through blind loyalty but kids today have so many other distractions to spend their money and grab their interest. Adam has been one of our own and he will be a massive loss to the club.

He’s going to Oz for a month and mull over his next move. He had said he would turn down a move to Leeds though!

Gutted he's going. However when a club legend leaves its often in a transfer window and noone knows they're going til it's happened or they're slowly faded out as they get too old or not as good any longer

The way Adam got to say good bye yesterday was with us all singing his name. Derby had just made the play offs yet the pitch was empty of everyone except Adam. Incredible scenes and ones that will last in my memory forever.

He left the pitch with us all singing his name behind him. Seemed an appropriate way for a legend to leave.

He dragged that side from the foot of the table, the side that contained Mawson, Hourihane, Scowen, Roberts etc etc, we would have ended up in league 2.

Thanks Adam, its a pity he would have torn league 1 to shreds.

I'll be more upset that he is leaving than relegation. Proper legend for us - never forget that goal at Wembley.

It's a bit of a strange one. I'm fairly sure the option is in his favour rather than the clubs. ie if he wants to stay he's perfectly within his rights to take the option. Maybe the club is discouraging that somehow but maybe he's doing the best by his family and taking the better overseas offer on the table (which the club won't' match?). Sad can't really blame him either given he's getting to the latter end of his playing career. Sad to see him go though. Would do a decent job for us in league one and there's no doubt his hearts in the right place. I wish him the best of luck whatever he decides. Top bloke by all accounts.

Just remembering Adams comeback game v York in jpt trophy game , he was the catalyst to turn that season around and could do same next season . Crazy decision if we let him leave

Does it matter who it comes from. I think the reaction from Adam yesterday and the post by his Mrs. pretty much confirms it.

GG said yesterday it would be looked at this week but he's gone.
