Wouldn't be a shock promotion. He's had so many promotions that it's not a fluke that he's a good manager, especially at our level. We'd see a few more clean sheets too with his style.
Good post mate... no one will be waving flags if appointed, but his record at clubs similar to us, is as good if not better than we could hope. Just a bread and butter experienced manager, who knows all about players at our level .. Would be a yes from me... Not a big wow yes... but a yes all the same I think he'd take us back up.
I think he's achieved 4 or 5 promotions out of league 1 so going off his past experience you'd have to say he's adept at getting teams out of that league. The only concerns are, firstly his style of football (which wouldn't be pretty at all) and secondly how has that short stint at Sunderland affected him. Appreciate he only joined Bradford quite late on in the season but his results there don't look particularly impressive. Were they in the play offs when he took over?
In the Championship I've seen Reds 5 Leeds 2, Reds 4 Leeds 1 and Reds 4 Sunderland 0 so I'd hope he be better a division lower. To be fair he did ok at Preston so he may be worth a shout. He was stupid to leave them for Sunderland. I don't see him as much other than another Paul Heckingbottom.
Really depends what our other options are. Hard to argue with 4 promotions. Style of football? Well I've not enjoyed the style we have been playing where we lose Every week. So the question is can we get anyone better in?
I think Grayson is an ideal appointment to stabilise the club, and make sure we finish at the right end of the table(at the very least). If he took us up, then again, I could see him consolidating the clubs position in the Championship. I wouldn't say he would be the right man to take us to the next level after that, but that's the boards job to decide when to replace him(a and who the man is to replace him).
My Bradford friends suggest Scunthorpe is his destination of choice for some reason?? IMHO- awful boring hoofball merchant. Also sent Brown out with the instruction to crock Butterfield. Not my sort of manager.
I think we could do a lot worse than Larry Grayson, and remember we DID do a lot worse with that continental clown!.
There are several managers that I definitely would have a big issue if we appointed these include Mark McGee, Steve Cotterill and Dr Zazlos ( Im sure he is watching in ;-) ). I don't see Grayson in this category but ive always seen him as a manager I wouldn't want at Oakwell. However despite there being some people on the forum who seem to know exactly how we manage a team and club, I would back him as I would any appointment for a fair run but he wouldn't be my appointment of choice.
Please god no ! Last thing we need another failed boring manager . He makes Paul hart sound positively exciting ffs
Just turned down the option of his contract extension and Glynn Snodin's his number 2. Nailed on, 3/1 with Skybet.
I haven't looked at those lists but are McCall & Alexander also on there ?. Ohh and forget about Mick Mac, he wont ever come back here.
I wouldn't call four promotions and a play off semi a failure. You can have the boring bit though. You're not going to find a single manager who's been in charge at five clubs and been successful at them all. Unless it's Neil Warnock.
Completely agree. We (well, some of us) seem to be able to see beyond the man at the helm when everything goes to **** at Oakwell, so why is it any different for some of the other touted managers out there? The manager alone can't guarantee success- if your club's haemmorhaging cash (Sunderland) or selling it's best players regularly (us), then it's a bit unfair to write likes of Coleman off, especially if their predecessors also failed (any recent Leeds boss).
If he can replicate with us what he did at Preston then I’m all for it! I went to Preston last season, when we beat them 2-1, they actually played some decent football if I remember correctly.
Grayson is the Colin of league one. God awful to watch but would likely be the quickest way back to the championship I like the idea of Coleman but isn’t he a bit glamorous for us? Surely he is looking for a Championship job at least
No,I think it is because he didn't win a game and took them from the Play Offs to Mid Table. The blame lies with the owners for sacking McCall and not strengthening the squad.
