Apart from Heckingbottom? He gets loads of stick on here. Performance wise he had a side without McBurnie & Moore out of the bottom 3, I don’t think you could ask for much more than that with what we had available August - January
Nothing wrong with our January recruitment apart from not getting a keeper in which we did try to do. What they got wrong was the head coach, we had a significantly weaker squad before January yet managed to fall into the relegation zone afterwards despite strengthening. Compare that to Bolton who lost their main target man in January yet still managed to get more points than us after the transfer window. Of course a large amount of the blame deserves to go to Morais / whoever appointed him. Ganaye admits as much in that interview.
I would 'guess' that Heckingbottom probably hadn't done a full scouting assessment on the likes of Knasmullner or Pinnillos ,therefore I would assume that they were offered to us on the cheap . If the new owners were serious about us staying up they should have dug a little deeper and brought in more quality .
Morais matched PH for points the difference really was Birmingham and Bolton improved on their points return we didn’t. If both those teams had performed similar before Jan we would have been in bottom 3 a lot sooner.
Lovely analysis. Ignoring the fact PH never had use of our POTY. Huge impact from two available strikers who brought different things to the team.
