Disagree with you there mate. With public office comes responsibility. Quite a lot of people don't hold the police in very high regard, possibly unfairly. He's not doing much for their cause, just perpetuating a circle of mutual mistrust and lack of respect. I think what he's written is genuinely damaging on several levels.

I agree - he represents the Police, as does anyone who joins. Therefore any comments he makes on social media can be attributed to them as a whole and be construed as general policy.

The police come under fire alot and it's just a tiny minority who let the side down. They are extremely stretched and under great amounts of stress.

The actions of this individual are not reflective of the South Yorkshire force and he's now being investigated. I think we all need to let them get on with their jobs and not prejudge any outcomes.

This shows the public can challenge those in positions of authority. Well done to everyone who saw this and reported on it.

People also need to come together like this to challenge those in Westminister and local councils when decisions are made which don't benefit the local community. Like cuts for ideological reasons.

Apathy is the way to dictatorship.

As I said earlier, they employ too many thick idiots. I know some and I wouldn't want them anywhere near public office. Brain dead morons.

I'm a 68 year old retired steel worker and I've never really liked the police since being a teenager and getting stopped numerous times by them whilst riding my motor bike, this was magnified 1000% by the way they acted during our steel strike, thatchers thugs, they practiced on us ready for taking on the miners, we had our battles but they paled in to insignificance in comparison to Orgreave plus the way they treat us as football fans is disgusting, this guy is just showing his true colours and that of many of his mates in uniform. I never trusted them back in my teens and I trust them even less now.

I can’t see how he can keep his current job. He can’t ever be taken seriously again in Barnsley, every single person he arrests in Barnsley will claim prejudice.

If he’s lucky he’ll get a move to another area.

You say that they are investigating but that is the are minimum they HAVE to do by law. Why is he still working and hasn't been suspended pending an investigation I know if I acted like that wouldn't be moved into another cushty job for a few weeks I'd be sat on my arse at home

He'll be on office duties, they could have suspended him on full pay but why do that when they need bodies doing work. He'll no doubt be kept away from any front line policing. He's bang out of order but due process must be allowed to happen. The police federation will be representing him and will have made a case for this action. By moving him away to another division it won't impede or prejudice the investigation.

It's still ongoing. My lad's a copper and they made him sweat for ages with a disciplinary matter.

i have had many friends and some family members in the Police and most of them were fine.

    The 3 issues I have had are;

No 1. One followed my lad home who was only about 15 or 16 in a car. My lad was a serious racing cyclist at the time and the copper who was in plain clothes followed him home. I sat them both down and asked what had gone off. My son had just done a sprint to clear a bit of road he didn't feel safe on and the copper said he had been riding recklessly. Then my lad said " Yes dad but he threatened to thump me. I turned to the copper and said "Did you say that to him" and the copper jumped up and virtually ran out of the house saying he was only trying to be helpful. I reported it to a mate who was a Inspector but we hadn't got a name so he couldn't be traced.

No 2. I was in a queue in the old bus station for the Jump Circular when a mounted Policeman decided he was going to disperse some noisy Barnsley Fans. Only Problem was they were stood behind us in the gap which existed then between Midland Street and the Bus station. He road straight at us sending the bus queue in all directions and I had to drag a 10 year old girl who had been shopping with her Mother from under it's hooves. Thankfully she wasn't hurt. I gave him some right abuse and he just rode off.

No3. Following a Sheff U match I was walking on the platform in Sheffield towards my train carrying a cup of coffee. I stopped to take a drink wand got a thump in the back. A row ensued I told him I would report him and he challenged me to do so. I was interviewed by a Chief Superintendent and an Inspector. The Chief Super admitted to me the SY Police had problems with the way Football crowds were managed. The Copper had said he had been dispersing rowdy football fans. When the Chief Super pointed out a 50 year old College Lecturer wasn't a typical football hooligan he admitted he had been at fault.

Apart from the above I can't say I have had many problems with them.

Have you read into this recent 'Spy Cops' scandal? Sounds absolutely unforgivable.

With a bit of luck he'll get a good hiding in town and people will just walk past while he's getting it
