...that's either going to be a master stroke or a complete fecking disaster. Will be interesting to watch either way.

Yes, probably worth a punt for them, as they will have some difficult decisions to make budget wise.

Seem an eloquent bloke, but so was Spackman I suppose.

Be interesting see if he turns out like a Clarke or a Zola in terms of management ability. Id have given him a go with us if he had been interested. Bit surprised he has come as far North as Derby

It’s a huge risk but it’s good to see a young English untried manager been given a chance,

They've kept on going with managers that are unproven and wonder why they keep bottling it at the play off stage. Whilst they keep on appointing such managers, none of them have had any relative success position wise at this level. They could have done a lot worse and have done a lot worse than appointing Carvahal or Jaap Stam.

Agreed - Lampard is a clever fella but no experience, reckon it will depend on who he has around him - could do with someone with experience in his ear - mind you, I reckon he can phone his uncle anytime!!

Massive risk but was always a pleasure to watch in his playing days. Hope it works out for both parties.

All out promotions in my lifetime have come with unproven managers - Clarke Hunter Wilson Ritchie and Heckingbottom. We have never done much with experienced managers - playoff failure with Bassett being the only exception I can think of.
Seems to be worth the gamble

I guarantee if we’d have announced FL this board would be spunking it’s collective pants and rightly so . A huge name that will attract good players , big crowds and there’ll be huge media interest too ! Hope it works out for him , the appointment will more than likely pay for itself anyway !

Great appointment. Bums on seats, will be a big pull to potential signings and will probably get them on tv more so extra cash.

Yes he might fail but most managers do in the end.

Wonder if he'll involve his uncle Harry, hope not or they will be skint in a week.

It's pretty rare in this country for top players to translate that into managerial success.

I wonder if John Terry will join him.
