You and me both. Bringing him back here would split the fan base and cause a lot of headaches. He burned his bridges when he was seen on SSN laughing his head off outside Bellend Road whilst we were slipping towards the trapdoor all on his watch. He was also found as a coach after the break up of the 2015/16 side in January 2017 and then again when he jumped to Leeds and kept his appalling record going. Not welcome for me but others will be different.
I liked Hecky. He was still unproven as a manager. I didn't get the vitriol directed towards him when he left although it was entirely predictable. Would I have him back? No. Way too divisive. Would I look to appoint him if I were another club? Big question marks I'm afraid. No one really knows how much of an influence he had on the successes of the Hourihane team. He now has a lot to prove somewhere. Nothing against him, I hope he does.
Let’s look at our options. We want a young hungry manager. Proven promotion record in the league we are in. Been to Wembley even won cups. Successful with no strike force in keeping a team above relegation zone. Experience in the Championship where we are aiming to get. Managed a very big club and a medium club in same division. Lives locally. Supports the team Knows the job!! Ring him now and get him in He’s exactly what we need , not some Scottish chancer or lower league maybe nearly man.
I'd have him back ... maybe not in the Championship, but in league 1. I know this is controversial. Just saying.
My god... simply stunned by this post especially considering his diabolical record with us and Leeds. The Hourihane team could have managed itself, didn’t need this fraud of a manager and Jan 2017 proved it.
He did lose quite a lot of that promotion team when we went up and we managed to get close to the play offs. Doubt many managers could have coped with January sales
Bit torn on this, even though it's only a hypothetical suggestion he may return. If he's the best available candidate, then why not. If you look at his move to Leeds simply as 'work', it's not like a supporter deciding to follow another club, it's just a bloke taking a better paid job and without having to relocate his family as a result. That said, I think the fans would be much, much less lenient with him, should he return, and the 'one of our own song' may also never see the light of day again. As an aside, is it only me that thinks our demise actually started with Tommy Wright's dismissal, and Hecky ultimately flopped without a strong No.2 by his side?
He s just ambitious and trying to do the best for his family as I assume you would! He is a reds fan lives here and has proven he can do well. He also had no striker and his team sold from under him. My opinion.
Possibly but you have to take into account that he inherited that team and then when bringing in his own players, was found severely wanting.
Leeds United are a joke. However they've made Hecky a millionaire, and I would certainly welcome him back.
Yes... imagine that, hello players.... this is the guy who told you that you were crap and then left for a big pay day... but because he failed miserably... now he's back. Great motivational intro that would be!
Course I would but I wouldn’t go to a hated rival after taking my hometown club towards the bottom of the table. As for his team, sorry bro but he inherited it. HIS team was the one that took us down. Of course there’s the ifs, buts and maybes and we’ll never know for sure what really happened behind the scenes but he burned his bridges for me.
