    Could do with it for what I'll end up spending. Taking daughter to see Ed Sheeran tonight but don't want to be stuck for ages trying to get out of Newcastle

    It’s tricky the arena is right in centre of Newcastle not sure if you could park on outskirts and get the metro in

    Try Parkopedia (site or app). My faithful friend for many years when planning ahead.

    For anywhere in Newcastle I tend to leave A1 at the A167 exit (Angel of the North - reasonably easy landmark to spot!).

    Straight past Angel (nice stop if you've time), through Low Fell into Gateshead. Takes you over the Tyne Bridge and into town (it's my tourist route if we have visitors from down south and I'm taking them to Newcastle for the day).

    But parking up is generally cheaper in Gateshead then on foot over the Tyne to the Quayside and city centre.

    Might be 25 mins on foot from Gateshead parking to St James' but you won't get stuck in traffic getting away the reverse route.

    I generally use the one at the Sage, its close to the bridges, but I don't know if you can use it in the evening. There are plenty of options near the river anyway.

    I'd have thought it every bit as difficult as match day parking, which is totally impossible near the ground.

    Metro option will work too, and there's a stop at the ground.

    Find a station that's a balance between ease of access and ease of getting away, that's got residential streets nearby. Good gig-specific guide in local press here:

    Thanks for the help and replies. I looked at the sage but they have something on tonight. Thought of P and R on metro but does that grt busy afterwards? As it doesn't finish until around 11 there aren't many trains left to run plus how safe are car parks at time of night on the outer metro routes

    I'm sure I'll find somewhere.

    Not enough of an expert for that depth of enquiry. But I know a big Geordie lad that is. I'll see what I get back from him if I ask this morning.
