Delighted for the adopted tarn lad. I'm sure he will take to the role the same way he did as a player for us. It's good seeing former players fans thought highly of, given a chance with us when their playing days are over.

I hope this appointment is on merit - and not just an effort by the club to keep a link to the past.
That is - sending a message to the fans that not all parts of the club will be converted into a part of France or Germany.

As I’ve said in a previous post - the vast majority of Barnsley fans are not bothered where the success comes from as long as the team plays attractive football and wins more than it loses.

I agree. It’s a multi million pound business. You shouldn’t appoint ‘one of the lads’ for such a pivotal role.
It may well be that he’s the best man for the job but we shouldn’t welcome the appointment purely on the basis that he’s a former player.

Makes sense to have some continuity at the club. Been too much upheaval recently on the coaching side.
I'm sure Stendel will have been consulted. As Bobby is Academy head now I assume he has a good working relationship with
    Martin.

All well & good appointing outsiders, but everyone has ambitions, hence Harsley moving on. Martin has been coaching at the club for 3 years & will know the lads that have come through the U23s.
