People happy cos we've finished 2nd, Columbia are a cracking side on their day and have beaten two teams without conceding far superior to the ones we've beaten even if they've not scored as many. As for people bringing Scotland into it, it's no relevance, it's like saying I might have finished 2nd last in the sprint but at least I beat the kid with no legs.
Most fans don't expect us to win the cup, same as most Scottish fans don't expect their team to qualify for a tournament.
Ian, I was 16 the last time Scotland were at a World Cup. 20 years ago. Unless I’m mistaken. Have you made a Euros even? Serious question.
Must have mate but not absolutely sure. I'm 61 and lost any real interest in Scotland years ago. One thing is certain if we did it was a long time ago. Lol
We are distinctly second division in this tournament which is an improvement i'd say as i considered we were 3rd division before it started. There are a couple of polished turds so you never know: most open world cup in my lifetime without question.
All I'll say is that you can read absolutely sod all into tonight's game. Two second strings playing well within themselves. Great strike from Januzaj. Let's see what happens Tuesday.
Although, for an England team generally composed of substitutes- I think their passing was spot on. Downside - lacking creativity and far too casual! Politically, that’s another issue. So we now will be playing Columbia who lost 2-1 to Japan (our opponents had we won) and drew with Egypt.
Well I would read that Southgate will have learned a lot from this game and will now know practically all of his first choices for the next game. I would say there are some question marks over Pickford tonight, Stones is the first defenders name on the sheet. Rashford before Sterling, Dier no, Delph no.
As someone said on Twitter; the closest Scotland will come to playing in the World Cup is if Iran play Brunei; IRN-BRU
