    Great defensive performance.
    Shi.te going forward.

WHY WHY WHY - can’t our players play for their country as good as what they play for their club ???

Ok - we won - and Gary Linekar is going nuts about the win - but it’s worth remembering that we were playing against players that played for clubs like Wigan and Hull City.

England may be boring to watch, but so far they've been quite effective. And don't underestimate your opponents (or overestimate England), Sweden are a proper team that have deserved to get this far imo. They just had a bad game today, and England played well too.

    Just enjoy the victory!

Very poor only beating Sweden - a team that we hardly ever beat in competitions - 2-0.

Why can't we thrash them 6-0?

I’ve posted on here about the importance of Dele Alli for England.
And today he was absolutely abysmal - other than score he did foooking nothing.
I’d have dragged him off after 15 minutes.
And he is a fine example of the midfield and striker performance - very under par - poor.

Our defence dragged us through that.
    Great defensive performance.

No we weren't poor. We weren't great either but that was our best performance yet and we controlled and strolled through a World Cup Quarter Final.
Sweden were crap but just maybe that was partially down to our performance too.

Apart from scoring....you'd have dragged him off after 15 minutes....then he wouldn't have scored

Back to Football Manager for you young man

Again we trained to play in a style and executed that well.
If you want fancy football then go find the teams sat at home and ask them.

Personally I have always felt and said over the past 10 years, regardless of personnel, that on their day England were more than capable of beating anybody in the world! The problem was that day came once every 10-13 matches regardless of opposition or tournament, i.e we could beat Germany or Argentina in a friendly and look great or we could thrash someone like Khazakstan in a euro qualifier. The problem was lack of consistency. This world cup I think England have started to perform at a more consistent level, however I still don't think we've seen the best overall performance from them. Hopefully we will see it in the next week and we dismantle someone in the semi's or the final.

Yep - we'd have trounced them had there not been a poverty stricken performance by that bloke you said was our best player.

Can I be forgiven from respecting your next choice of our most invaluable player?

More or less agree with that.
We have ALWAYS had the players to win EVERY World Cup since 1966 - but we never had the team.
Basically because of the pressure put on the players.
I would say this is the least talented team for a long time - but their mentality is better - but in no way are our midfield and forwards playing well like they do for their clubs.
    Sterling is a prime example.

Have I missed the memo online, where it became the done thing to be contrary, diametrically opposed, an arse, just because?

Yesterday it was folk whingeing that Barnsley were making a profit on players we don’t need anymore, today, after reaching our first semi final of a World Cup since 1990, the team weren’t good.

    Golden times online.
