Went down to Oakwell earlier for a Bradford ticket. Called in club shop and was told they don’t have a date yet for when either home or away shirt becomes available. This must be the latest ever for the home shirt.
Not really - first time you'd see home shirt years ago was when they ran out in it at the first game. Times have changed and different market now - surprised they don't know when it's available
I misread that as 'when they'd ran out of it at the first game' and I thought 'well, that makes a change from running out of it at the Open Day'. Although, it's looking likely they won't even have any available by then which is a bit daft as there'll be tons of people wandering around the club shop with money burning a hole in their pocket.
More likely..... And i can say with certainty I won't be the only one. A few years ago it was ready for father's day. So i got mine. I also got my dad his. As a result the only ones who hadn't got one at that point are my lads. So they got one each. That's 4. Now. None of us have them. Obviously. My dad won't buy one. And im not buying 3 in one go for us. Bottom line. Have them out for father's day. They will sell more. I'm not likely to get any now to be honest.
I predict two possible outcomes: 1) They order far too few of popular sizes again so when they sell out in 2 days the club will think that it's been a success and that releasing them late didn't hurt anything 2) They finally order a sensible amount but because they'll released them so late loads of people don't bother buying one. They think that they've ordered too many and go back to previous stock levels, not realising that they could have shifted more if they'd timed the release properly.
The club shop is run by people who could not hold a piss up in a brewery. A bit like the bar and catering.
That's it. They have missed fathers day, off season holiday sales and not made the most of the hottest summer in 42 years. Now we are in the second half of summer, no fathers day, most people had a summer holiday and the nights are drawing in. Shirts for the new season should be on sale by about June 1st. They have an whole year to sort it and every year is usually a mess that costs the club thousands of pounds.
Put me down for a bfc onesie im ordering now if its not here for bonfire neet ill wear last year's wednesday one i got on ebay for a tenner. Oh size xl
I'm not that keen on Alan Sugar's Apprentice programme but one thing he said on there to a hopeless case who had customers but no stock to sell them went something like this: "What, you had punters there with money in their hands and you weren't taking it off them because you didn't sort out some stock? That's the worst sin you can commit in retailing." No doubt followed later by "You're fired." I've been trying to give them money for ages now for a full set of kit for my grandson and a shirt each for me and my daughter. Season starts next week and they still don't know when the shirts will be in? Time to place a charge of dynamite somewhere in the system, Gauthier.
Or could it be the suppliers that have not made them in time, have they concentrated on bigger clubs shirts and pushed us way down the line as puma know they’d make more money from the clubs in the top divisions of the world and we have a far smaller contract than them?
I don't buy replica shirts but I can understand the angst and frustration of people that do . For a football club it is a basic fund raiser . New shirts are expected by bfc fans so why can't the club provide said shirts at the optimum times . People took the piss out of the Fowls last season . Have we now sunk to that level ? Sorry gotta go , cricket back on . You whites !
We've had changes of CEO and ownership in the last couple of years and the same problems persist. It's about time we looked further down the personnel chain for the blame.
I rarely, if ever, enter into negative posts regarding the club because owners, players, chairmen etc, come and go, but we, the fans, are the only constant. However, the club shop will never see a penny of my hard earned ever again. Two Christmases ago, I went to get him the away shirt for Xmas, but they had no stock (as per) but assured me some more were coming in January so suggested I buy a £50 gift voucher, which I duly did. The new stock never arrived, so my son decided to save his voucher for the new home shirt in June(ish). So, the new shirt is launched, he went to but it...voucher only valid for 6 months, so they took it off him and binned it. And guess what, two uncles each bought him a £20 voucher last Xmas, bought on 19th and 21st December, both should've been OK to cover the cost of the new shirt, as it usually gets launched in June. Vouchers expired a month ago, new shirt still not available. 90 quid down the drain!! Anyway, rant over, but that's why I will never, ever spend a cracker in that circus of a shop ever again.
If folk check other clubs, they’re all very similar to us release date wise. I think the World Cup has slowed it down, but we must also remember that the kits are bespoke to us, so take longer. Folk moan as shirts are off the Pegg so you can predict what it’s going to be. Then the club go down the bespoke route, but they’re out a little later. We’ll probably move to someone like Errea next season. Small supplier who will have lower lead times. Puma supply a lot of club shirts these days - and they all come out of a handful of factories.
It won't cost us thousands- shirt will still sell the same numbers - just get it a little later. Away shirt has been well received- it will sell
