Thanks mate. Agree, no need for the negativity towards Keith Hill on here. Done a sterling job at Rochdale. Good luck for the season.
He gets hammer from some of us as he behaved and spoke at times appallingly when he was manager here. Yes he had a decent side sold from under him but he spoke about our fans and the town with disrespect on a number of occasions. He was crap as a manager for the most part, he had a great side and did ok for a bit then rebuilt his side with half of your trundlers who were honest but not good enough, spoke a lot of nonsense and at times seemed to be disinterested and not trying. He’s not disliked for being crap, but for being a complete ****** whilst he was here. Truth be told I think he wanted to leave and go back to Rochdale quite early in his tenure. He’s done ok for you, I don’t wish your club any harm at all, good luck to you.
Keef saw that things needed to change at Oakwell, to get us playing proper football, just like Stendel has. Keef had to manage that on a bottom-of-the-league budget, and he shown’s he’s pretty good at doing that season after season. Stendel has got a top-of-the-league budget, ironically now at Keef’s lowly level, and has got off to a flier and appears to have the mast majority of fans behind him. Stendel seems less prickly and savvier though, so l’m sure he will have noted some supporters starting to dig after a two match wobble; almost as if they wanted things to go wrong so they could say told you so.
He deserves f.ck all respect on the basis that he afforded absolutely zero to the history, traditions, potential and size of our own football club. So I’ll emjoy the schedemfreude of him appearing to have another absolutely w.ank team like the one we had to witness under him here.
Keith wasn't everybody's cup of tea, but he did his best for us and should be respected for it. I understand why some fans are unhappy about some of his comments, but the thing with KH is that he speaks off the top of his head. There's usually a sensible, valid point being made, yet often it gets lost in translation - I think partly it's because he chooses his words poorly and partly because some fans are too thin-skinned and/or are actively looking for insults. Take the stuff about our club's history, for example. I always thought that his underlying point (that a club shouldn't rest on its history, and has to be successful in the here and now) was a valid one. He just mangled the message and got folks backs up. In the post-match video shown above, yes he does have a little pop at the Dale fans, but what's he supposed to do when they're taking the piss out of one of his players? Join in with them? Basically all he's doing is asking the fans to get behind the team. Nowt wrong with that.
