Couldn't care less about the bloke, he has had so many opportunities and people willing to help him get back on the straight and narrow and he's just thrown it back in their face time after time. What will be will but other people in his position have had no where near the help he has had.
If you could respond rationally to the idea that you've got people willing to help you then you wouldn't have a problem in the first place. Believe me, the "pull yourself together" mentality just doesn't work. There is far more understanding of these types of problems needed, and we need to get it that people will fall many times after they have been helped up. It is not wilfulness on the part of people with these type of problems - they really are ill.
Alcoholism is a horrific thing and a vicious circle that is very difficult to break. It is hard enough for a member of the public to beat it, let alone someone who has previously been a massive celebrity in the past who cannot escape the media spotlight. The average alcoholic on your street doesn't receive national press whenever he/ she relapses. Perhaps they haven't had the level of support that Gazza has had and I get that but im sure he'd give anything to be rid of alcohol if he could.
If it's a member of your family or loved one or friend you keep going and keep trying. There is no actual mental health problem solving handbook.
