Thought i'd make use of this thread instead of the duplicate Mourinho one!

Does anyone else use DAWs on here? I'm trying to find my way around Ableton but could do with some decent tutorials- any recommendations?

I use Cubase. What are you wanting to do?

Ableton is a good DAW and there are lots of YouTube videos. However I would suggest looking at Groove3, MacProVideo or such like. You might have to pay but they are usually the most complete end to end tutorials. Also the help system in Live is very good and has in built tutorial links too, don’t underestimate its as it’s better than most DAWs help system

I also use Cubase 9.5 as it is good for MIDI . I find it a bit of a pain for audio as it is a bit arsey as to which AD converter it uses and I use an old AVID mBox 2 as a interface with Windows 10 as it has much lower latency than the built in Soundcard( and phantom power for studio condenser mics) However, AVID stopped supporting it and never upgraded the drivers for Windows 10 so it crashes a lot. For Audio I use Cool Edit Pro very old but it is more stable and has a lot more effects processing options than Cubase.
Never used (or even heard of) Ableton but understand it is geared towards DJing which I think is your area of expertise is it not?

Hi mate, I like making electronic music - stuff you'd hear in film scores and occasionally NIN type stuff or instrumental hip hop.

I have an Akai MPD that I use to trigger samples or sounds from and have created music using Ableton before, just don't understand quite a bit of the functions. Cheers for your help :)

I'm not suggesting using something else. Groove3 and MacProVideo are tutorial sites but they are paid services, but are very good as they offer full courses on Live. Are you using version 9 or 10 and what edition is it (Intro, Standard, Suite)? Are you on a Mac or PC?
