My impression is that you are clearly a retrobate who probably thinks he knows a lot because you play FIFA
Do know what think bad management played a part last year. Becky was clueless then the Jose disaster you
I have just read this thread this morning & I have come to the conclusion that a number of posts are based on the assumption that we will be promoted , which we all hopeful for but with 39 games to go even Mystic Meg would struggle to work out who will go up & it is certainly not a given . Last time we got promoted the first half of the season was a decline in fortunes & a slide down the league to the bottom which included a run of defeats which was horrendous however things changed round & the rest as they say is history but those players did not have their contracts extended which resulted in the stripping of our assets . People have short memories , do we want to risk that potentially happening again ? The club were lambasted from pillar to post for allowing that to happen but now the club are trying to make sure history does not repeat itself I find myself reading peoples thoughts which are basically saying we should not go down this path . I personally welcome the club being pro active with the contracts & certainly do not want a repeat of january 17 & whether individual players are good enough to step back up, well lets get there first & take it from there.
You think someone will give us 950k for Cameron mcgheen?? I know people keep giving thiam a hard time but mcgheen cost 50k less he can't even get in the side has contributed nothing at all this season and one goal last. I honestly can't see anyone parting with anything near that for him.
In the first half of our last promotion season, who would have said those players would have done so well in the championship? In fact, who would have said they would even be there? Also, if or when we do get back up, this won't necessarily be the team that plays. January should improve us, and also pre season. Some of these players will be here and will excell along side new additions, and some will leave. After what happened in 2017, we can't just do nothing. They're just contract extensions to cover our backs, not keeping them here forever on massive wages.
On current form under this management team : Cavare, Pinnock, Lindsay, Dougall, Potts, Moore, Moncur. Yet to see what Woodrow offers us. Last season we chucked a load of untried lower league players in and expected it to work - abysmal decision - because Hourihane/Winnall etc had a year at this level to acclimatise and gel together before they became Championship level - something that the management and some supporters forgot, expecting them to hit the ground running in an extremely challenging Championship. Added to that they played under Heckingbottom who had the face on for all of last season, then Morais who let's face it was an unmitigated disaster, then it's a wonder we weren't down at Christmas. So many of last season's players have mentioned the uplift in attitude and mood under the current coaching set up and we look more organised and positive in outlook which makes me think that if we went up, we'd fare much better next time. There would have to have to be some quality added of course, but even the likes of McGeehan who seem to have been written off may come good.
That was a decent comment by your standards. Thing is, you repeatedly say "could of" and "should of" and I can't respect the opinions of anyone who does this.
Unfortunately I missed the Oxford game but it sounds like we were as good as the result suggests. The last three home games look very similar to many performances from last season with the difference being the standard of the opposition. A decent Championship side would have turned us over 3-0 yesterday. People might want to believe that a year in League One will do these players good and aid their development. To my mind another year in the Championship would have done them better. Regardless of this, putting the new players to one side, this squad of players is not good enough for the division above. We are not going to get asset stripped for most of the players in this squad - those wanted by Championship clubs have already gone.
Thing is though conan we are 3rd in the league and unbeaten we played Walsall who are level on points and also unbeaten. We had 3 golden chances to kill the game off if we had of you wouldn't of posted. We were missing Potts Davies dougall and also have isgrove woodrow and hedges out. I think you are over reacting as usual if we did not renew and contracts come next summer you would be the 1st one to post umpteen threads slating the club and telling us we have lost ex amount by mowatt Davies cavare and hedges all leaving for nothing and how their replacements aren't good enough. Have a day off.
The last 3 home games have looked very similar to quite a few last season, and the Scunny and Walsall games we seem to have gone back to being a 45 mins a game side.
