Bearing in mind we have two goalkeepers no-one is entirely happy with, I think Westwood would be an ideal loan signing with a view to a permanent move. He's been one of the top keepers in the Championship the last few seasons and his name was being touted around the Premier League. Don't know what has happened this season but he's not even making the match day squad at Hillsborough. I know he doesn't fit the youth DNA but most goalkeepers reach their peak in their 30's. I'd have him at Oakwell - he'd improve the squad.

I'm happy with Walton & honestly think he should have a run in the side, after Davies poor performances last season & Walton stepping up to replace him in the last few games, he must think himself unlucky to not be given a chance.

We would have to move one of the others on really. Think other areas of the squad need attention first, a forward and a wide man for me.

More chance of signing Ederson. 32k a week, not a chance.

Apart from he's a decade too old, on too much money and we already have two keepers it's a good shout.

I thought silly season was reserved just for when the transfer window was open?

As I said. Keepers reach their peak in their 30s. I've no idea how much money he's on just like you haven't. We have two keepers who are not good enough. Apart from that good response mate.

Its about opinions , you say we have two keepers who are not good enough, as if it was a fact , but it is not a fact , my opinion is totally opposite, which also is an opinion not fact, but what is a fact is they have let 5 goals in between them in 8 games ,which is as good as anything in the division .

He's one of the best goalkeepers in the league in my opinion so can't see it. Can see decent Champ clubs coming in for him if he's available.

Westwood is a first rate keeper. However, he’s on some right coin.

I think a couple of injuries have set him back a little - but I’d also guess there might be a contract issue with him, ie money due if he plays more. Seems strange he’s been left out. He even says himself he’s not injured. Probably can’t afford to play him.

You're right, it is all about opinions and you can't argue with the fact that we've not let many goals in this season.
I just think that Westwood is one of the top keepers below the Premiership and for some reason he's fallen out with the manager so doesn't even feature in the match day squad. He's highly rated by the Wednesday fans I know whereas not many Barnsley fans rate Davies as highly.
Each to their own. Just thought I'd share my opinion.

No problem SDM , from what I understand from an interview the other week when the Wednesday manager was pressed over Westwood , he basically said that he was third choice for football reasons which I find astounding, as Westwood is a class act.Unfortunately class acts cost a lot of money & if it is right that he is on approx £32 k a week , then I cannot see him playing in division one for obvious reasons.

Davies might get us out of this division but like the rest of the squad he is not good enough for the division above and we should always be looking to improve. Don't think Westwood is the answer though.

My opinion is that we've been long overdue a new goalkeeper. Davies has shown his vulnerability and Walton isn't yet proven. He was pitched in when we had no other option, with Davies' confidence shattered, not because he was knocking on the door with his performances. He's conceded 12 goals in 6 games. The jury is still out.

Walton seems a long way off ready to me. Let’s hope Davies doesn’t get injured or lose form again.

According my Wednesday supporting mate, they can’t afford to play him.

Those ‘footballing’ reasons being that he would get the sack if he played him, as his bosses have made him aware that in doing so he would likely bankrupt an already financially knackered club and possibly take them under.

I hope he plays every week...

To suggest he’s in any way inferior to Cameron Dawson or Joe Wildsmith is a little ridiculous but some swallow it.

Yup, that’s how I read it. Westwood’s probably one of, if not the best keeper in the Champ.
