    In reference to muslims:
    "F*ucking pork dodgers."

"Even if it is lies. Who cares. If a few people believe it then they will hate the pork dodgers even more. And that's what we want more hate towards them"

Facebook say these do not breach their rules and are acceptable comments to make.

    Thoughts?

Muslims don't eat pork so stating fact isn't racism. It's like Yorkshire players calling Muslim player Adil Rashid, Rash for his nickname. Yes it's his surname shortened but it's a term used for bacon so quite witty. As folks from Yorkshire I don't think we would take Yorkshire Pudding dodger the wrong way.

Is absolutely unacceptably racist. But what goes for mainstream politics in the us at the minute totally unsurprising.

There really is no wit intended, it is just his name shortened. And while you're correct that Muslims don't eat pork the term in this instance is being used in the pejorative and in the context that is being used is, in my opinion, racist and being used to cause offence.

The second comment however is totally unacceptable. Facebook has much worse on that doesn't get taken down such as self harm, violence and hate speeches.

    It's not racist. It's anti-Islamic.

The comments have undoubtedly been made by racists so your statement of fact is irrelevent. How do you view these comments?

I'm sure the comments were made by racists, but the comments themselves are anti-Islamic.

If I made comments about Catholics wearing rosary beads, who would I be being racist towards?

Again, you couldn't be further from the truth. Calling someone of muslim decent a 'Pork Dodger' is incredibly racist. You are using something that is part of their religion in a disparaging manner. Racism isn't just words, its context and intent.

I disagree that the comments are solely anti-islamic: they have racist connotations too.

Racist to me but it's all semantics isnt it? It's being a complete **** towards someone from a different background... think that covers it!

    Hateful, ignorant and prejudice.

I just find it odd that anti Islamic agenda is called racism but against another religion it wouldn't be.

I myself dislike Islam but not Muslims. I have a very similar opinion of Christianity but not Christians.

Are you saying that when people say Islam they mean Pakistan? I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you if you are. To a lot of brain donors they are interchangeable terms.
