You have saved the structure of the stand , the open seats are are mounted on the original terracing & the wooden floor above would still remain , I would only fit new seats to the upper stand but the entrances , exits , directors boxes etc would remain in situ .

Anyone with a desire in their heart to see us play in the premier league has to acknowledge that symbolically and actually we need a modern new stand which reflects our history in the Western side of the stadium. Anyone defending the status quo of that side of the ground is nothing but a Luddite loom smashing small minded small town troll.

I sit east upper and i bloody love the west stand. Each to their own but i love how it looks straight out of the 70s. Bit of character which is lacking from so many grounds. Wouldn't mind it being restored, but would hate to see it being replaced.

The open seats in the lower tier aren't on the original terracing though, it was built 23 years ago

Was it the firm Nuttall, Yarwood and Partners? Think they had an office in Dodworth.

I will not argue , you could be right but I stood on that terrace best part of 60 years ago & apart from the seats going down I see no difference apart from the obvious crash barriers being removed

In the mid 90s they dug up all the terracing and built a new one with a different gradient which is the reason that unlike other grounds where seats were just bolted on the west lower has proper leg room. I remember us playing with the West all cordened off and bobcat diggers sitting on a muddy bank

Funnily enough, it does, but there's always a warning on the tannoy about it.

Spot on. The practice is no more, due to retirement, but they were the club architects at the time.

Here you go. The glorious West Stand, long before there was any other stand in sight. E9B15A39-051D-4CDF-9DD6-A9BFAFC740C2.jpeg

I thought it looked no better than OK. Building a new stand with corporate boxes without a balcony is lazy. No advertising wall at the front. Front row taped off so what's the point of the seats they put there. Corporate had such huge windows box guests had little privacy. The gangways to get to their seats are so wide you'd think their fanbase was sumo wrestlers.

This is NOT a wind up it’s a fact people always on about knocking it down lots is one of the dearest part of the ground to pay in so why should people pay more if it’s not up to scratch health and safety

Btw I’ve sat in the upper tier and used to stand in the terrace nearest the ponty end back in the 80s. I’d still bulldoze it now, time to move on

So the extended ends are the different coloured seating of the existing stand. Always wondered why those seats were different. I can't see much sentiment in it it's changed that much from the original, l'm sure in time the new owners will replace it and bring us into the 21st century.

Before those seats were put in the extentions it was a bench you sat on with no back.

Remember it well. For a few years my mum used to come to the game and we all sat in the stand. Joicey / Peachey era. The days of the Prince.
