The term is, and always has been, contested. I like Selina Todd's assertion that it should be wide enough to include everyone who has to work for a living, as opposed to those who don't need to.
I understand it, just don’t agree it’s applicable anymore. Brickies, sparkys etc used to be in this class, but their potential earnings are far greater these days. Also, if husband & wife both have jobs, wife is on £60k a year, and husband works in a warehouse for £15k but both have an overall lavish lifestyle, how does that work? The term is fairly outdated these days, that’s my point. I know some folk who work in warehouses who would be insulted being called that - as they work hard to earn money to have a decent standard of living.
Could this design be amended? I’d like a badge “Lads and lasses against crap parking in Asda” And my friend would like one which says. “ REDS FANS SAY - Don’t ask “Who’s next please?” It’s your job to know who turned up at the bar and in which order. “ Happy to cover costs. Thanks.
No No No!!.....It's one thing to post political stuff on here to debate (yep I know I have done so as many on here have) but we should keep politics out of sport and certainly NOT bring it into the ground on match days. Terrible idea IMHO!
Good idea! Maybe the phrase "bloody chuffin' rain" could be included on it somewhere? Might be applicable this coming Saturday. Are you going to start a Crowdfunding scheme to pay the copyright claims, or are you going to cover those yourself too?
I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’m against fascism, but that badge is embarrassing. Looks tacky for one. Uses copyrighted material, unnecessarily forces the idea of a ‘working class’
I'm afraid I'm in the "just don't get it" consensus too. Surely we're all against fascism aren't we? Well, 99% of us. If you want to make an impact against right wing politics that badly just do volunteer work for one of the other parties.
I'll have one of them badges Tyketicus and wear it with pride as I'm a working class Barnsley supporter and against fascism in all its forms and always pin mi colours to mi chest.
Yup - it’s like going back to the 60s and 70s. Regardless of what ‘class’ you are, most folk are against fascism. And in reality, we live in a democratic society, and fascism isn’t rife.
We ordinary folk... Who still have freedom of thought ... In this town. Voted 7-3 for what some claim are fascists ideas. Its those that are doing the screaming that what to look at themselves..
See my earlier post. Nothing to do with anti-fascism just keeping politics out of sport wherever possible!
I agree. And I also cannot see what ‘class’ has to do with being anti-facist. The majority of folk, regardless of class, are against it.
